Hey,
I get quite a bit hits from google every day. But not nearly as much from yahoo.

Yahoo is still the largest (if not, it is second largest). What can I do to make my website (mainly the poker website) more optimized for yahoo.

Cheers,
Nima

do you mean to rank on yahoo? get more links, yahoo and msn really like links unlike G, but i prefer for you to focus on the big one. G almost have the 70% rather to get the remaining.

the keywords should be on the linking text as well. msn and yahoo place more enphasis on keyword density on the webpage than google as well.

Well. my theory is that google is the hardest to get into, msn is the easiest one to rank at. And yahoo is in the middle - therefor if you have a little bit of links, and a little bit of content optimization - than i hope, yet not sure that you will rank. good luck

Yahoo and msn place more weight on page optimization, while google places more weight on off line optimization, that's say how popular you are.

I have to say yahoo is the tough egg to crack. I get traffic from MSN and Google but very little from Yahoo. I think links are a major issue with yahoo.
you will need a lot of backlinks to make yahoo work. Google is easy at least for me.

buy a spot in their directory if you haven't already. that is the best thing you could do to optimize your site for yahoo.

Yahoo is one of the oldest search engines that exist on the Internet.
Yahoo was on deliberately just the contrary of what the Google algorithm was. The reason was that the webpages that ranked well in Google did not do so in Yahoo and vice versa. Hence the attempt to optimize a website for both the search engines was a hard nut to crack.

I think its hard to rank well in Yahoo. But its easy to be indexed in it. I have not gotten into 'optimizing for yahoo'. I have always focused on optimization for Google.

Yahoo is more focused on the content and keyword density of a site.

Not to sound stupid but do you mean that Yahoo is looking at overall keyword density at a site level or at an article/topic level?

I have great keyword density in my articles but Yahoo and MSN pretty much ignore me where google.com puts me on pages 1 - 3. I've had little trouble indexing will with g but y and m are killing me.

I think yahoo give more weights on site contents. You just need to optimized your content with targeted keywords.

Trust me, my content is optimized and has not only keyword targeted titles but also keyword rich content that supports the heading page as well as anchor text within the article body.

Google eats this content up but if Yahoo is so pro "on page content" then I'm having trouble understanding why they can't get deeper than the index page.

I've noticed that MSN has actually managed to make their way in deeper for a change but Yahoo is still delivering crappy results overall. I will say though that last week saw the most Yahoo Slurp Spider activity within my forums with close to 100 spiders probing the forums for around 30 minutes.

Maybe Yahoo is just a slow study?

Yahoo always has been slower to get around to crawling pages, probably due to the point that Yahoo! is more link driven than is generally realised.

Everyone goes about Google being link driven when in reality it is the anchor text of the links that counts. With Yahoo!, yes it is the page content that generates the rankings, but, you do need a reasonable quantity of IBLs to get the pages added to the crawler schedule and keep it there.
