I'm banned by Yahoo

My site is about 6 months old, already got indexed by Google, MSN and Yahoo. Then I was idiot to change URL structure of whole site without redirection. Now Google and MSN slowly re-indexes it, only Yahoo doesn't want to re-index and drops old pages from its DB. My url is Vietnam Travel Information.
What I can do? Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.
Tuan.

They will probably start indexing you again sooner or later.

When did Google and MSN start re-indexing? I think Yahoo was the slowest in indexing my site when I first put it up. I think Matt is right in that it's just a matter of time.

You may have changed the site structure in a way that wasn't the best, but it shouldn't be a cause for being removed permanently from the index. I am seeing 5 pages from the site in the index at Yahoo so maybe they're just getting started.

Keep building links and in the meanwhile the search engines will find the links of the site and index that again

If yahoo hasn't dropped the old links yet, I would go ahead and add a 301 redirect in.

I also changed my URL format recently from /forum/thread to /thread and didn't add a 301 in. I quickly seen the traffic from all 3 search engines fall. After I added the 301's into place - it only took a week for traffic to regain.

I think adding an url again is waste of time. Its better to concentrate on getting more and more links, and definitely Yahoo will re-index it. But patience is required.

Don't. Just don't. There is absolutely no benefit to submitting your site to any search engines ever. The only worse thing you can do is pay $300 to submit it to Yahoo's directory, which actually hurts your position in Yahoo's search results for your keywords. Let the search engines come to you.

While I wouldn't spend $300 to get listed in Yahoo!'s directory either, I'm not sure about that other claim. That's the first I've ever heard of it.

The Critic, evidence to support the claim, please and thank you? (I'm not saying you're wrong...I'm just saying that's new on me.)

Having said all of that, I'd put the redirects in place from the old URLs to the new ones if you haven't already done so. I can't see anything else from a purely SEO point of view on a surface glance, other than maybe 5-10 new inbound links just to trigger a fresh crawl. ("Hey, we changed stuff, look at us now.")

I've actually heard the opposite that being listed in the Yahoo directory helps with organic results in Yahoo. I have no proof to back that up at the moment, just things I've read here and there.

I'd be interested in seeing some evidence too and like Adam not makng judgements. Just curious.

I can't find the source where I originally read this (some SEO blog, I'm sure), but I still remember the gist. Basically what happens when you submit your site is that you provide a title, url, and short description. When being considered for a spot in the directory, editors remove keywords from your title and may change around your description as well. In most (all?) cases this means changing your title to your company or domain name. This isn't all that bad in and of itself, but when your site shows up in Yahoo's SERPs it uses the title and description in their directory listing rather than the ones you specify in your META tags, meaning that unless you are trying to optimize for your company or domain name you're taking a step backwards. I've heard from some webmasters that say it hurt their rankings, some that say it helped, and some that said it did absolutely nothing for them. It's probably a bit of a crapshoot, and not one I'd be willing to bet $300 on. I suppose I should have said that it "can" hurt your rankings for your keywords, since it depends on your company, domain name, and targeted keywords.

Even if this doesn't directly affect your particular site's rankings, it will probably take its toll on your CTR.

That makes a little more sense to me. I still think a link from the Yahoo Directory is going to do more good than harm. I have heard that Yahoo may give a boost to sites in their directory and the link is most assuredly a trusted and high quality link.
