hello,
i have a doubt.
will yahoo consider age of websites in its rankings?
i mean, will a relatively older website rank well in yahoo rather than a new one?
i heard that google considers this factor in rankings.
what about MSN?
thank you

only because a site that has been in existence for some time will have accumulated more link naturally.

What is the age of a website anyway??

the date it was registered?
the date it was first put on line?
the date it changed owners or content?
the date the SE first found a link?
the date someone submitted it to a directory?

plus many other points. suddenly it's not that simple

Like Chris said. The pages will probably fo better because they've acquired more links over time, which of course doesn't have to be true.

I think at the moment only Google has anything about age built into their algorithm and I think they consider a site's date of birth so to speak as the day they first became aware of any pages on the site. Don't hold me to that though. And I agree with Chris again that it's not as simple as it would first seem.

Regardless of what the age of a site is in general the longer a site's been online the greater the chances it has more links pointing to it so it pobably will rank better, but that's not an absolute.

GoWFB_SEO, do you know if Yahoo is using some kind of aging thing in their algorithm like Google? Or are you just meaning it like Chris said in that older sites will generally have more backlinks?

I wasn't aware that Yahoo had incorporated age into the algorithm though I assumed they would at some point.

By the way I like the furniture site in your sig. Looks good.
