Yes, looks like well all need to get reading/writing our
"how to optimize for Bing articles".

What does it mean for all the subsidiary Yahoo portals.

ex. Yahoo UK and Ireland
Yahoo Japan

Will these portals also adopt Microsoft Bing search
by default?

What will happen to Yahoo Japan?

Looks like it might either team up with Bing or
turn to another Asian Search provider
like Naver or Baidu.

One of the latest big news in the search engine industry is the deal of Microsoft, creator of Bing, and Yahoo, in which the latter will give up its search engine technology and will use Bing's technology.

So you should optimize for Bing.com - Yahoo/Bing will have a search market share of at least 15% (that's the current market share of MSN and Yahoo combined - some statistics show a much higher market share).
