This is my first post. I apologise in adavance if I have posted this message in the wrong area.

I have dreamweaver MX 2004 which is on two computers. I have two computers and computer 2 accesses dreamweaver files on computer 1. This arrangement has worked fine since we installed it over a year ago.

This morning computer 2 tried to save changes and received the following error message:-

While executing onLoad in temp URL_afterSave.htm, the following javaScript error(s) occurred:

in file ""tempURL_aftersave"":
ReferenceError: afterSave is not defined

As a result we cannot make changes to our website from that machine. Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it.

It still works ok on machine number 1.

Kind regards

Pezzo

Just want to clarify? You mentioned that computer 2 was accessing DW
files on Copmuter 1..?

What are you calling DW files? htm, cfm, asp, etc are not DW files they are
web pages.. DW file would be something like.. file.lbi (a library item.) Is it
one of these DW generated files or a web page?

DW doesn't like it when you move a directory that has .lbi files in it..

I have no idea what it really could be... Some things I would try..
  1. Make sure that your testing server is correct..
  2. check how saving a file is set up. Is it set up to upload automatically or no..?
  3. Is file sharing set the same on both computers?
  4. Is the local root set up to be the same across your network?
  5. Seems obvious but have you tried restarting BOTH computers?
Just some ideas..

I am not on a server, just using a stand alone laptop with XPpro.

I have exactly the same issue with Dreamweaver, it has worked fine for the last few years and this issue equally does not affect my save etc.

However, in an attempt to identify what may possily be the actual cause/problem...
  1. recently I had a worm on my machine affecting my Registry shortcut ("run>regedit" was not working). Fixed this by deleteing regisry.com
  2. + I had only 200mb hard disk space. Fixed this, removed rubbish files etc.
  3. + in relation directly to dreamweaver I tried saving/activating the 'sava as' Dreamweaver Template file.
Was wondering if anyone else has fixed the known issue of:
-------------
While executing onLoad in temp URL_afterSave.htm, the following javaScript error(s) occurred:

in file ""tempURL_aftersave"":

ReferenceError: afterSave is not defined
--------------

Please let me know.
