It's funny how a person could be pretty good at photography, but almost completely unable to build a decent looking web design. You would think they're both visual arts, but that's about where the similarity ends.

Anyway, I've been putting a great deal of work into improving the design on my site. It's still pretty far from beautiful, but hopefully an improvement over the old one. And more driven by CSS, so hopefully easier to adjust in the future.

So I was hoping people could give me some advice about whether I'm going in the right direction here, and how I can improve things? Thanks! It's not really the content I need feedback on, but the layout, navigation structure, and that kind of stuff, that I'm just not any good at.

Examples:

Star Trails, Car Camping near Yosemite
Rocky Mountain Sky
Seattle Photos by Night
North Vancouver, British Columbia

It's a photography site, mainly a portfolio I use to impress potential clients, and also to introduce my work to more people, who might know someone who needs a portrait shot in Seattle when they visit, for example. There are also articles and software, mainly to draw traffic to the photos.

Star Trails, Car Camping near Yosemite - this site - the size is all wrong - its massive and therefore hard to look at. Im not sure what config u did it on but on normal screen look really big.

Yosemite seems off. I would expect the big picture to be centered or on the left side.

On Rocky sky there are two words overlapping. One plain text, the other graphics.

On the Seattle page, none of your pictures pulled up. Maybe they are too large and they browser can't read it. I also noticed that you don't have a meta tag for keywords on all of your pages.

I think you are moving in the right direction. I can see how it will all come together. Your one step ahead of me. I barely know html, let alone css.

I think the photos are gorgeous. I think we've found your calling.

It's hard for me to give your site the "hard crit" as my buddy Mike Speranza used to say, because you've given me and a lot of others on this board some good advice. But I think it's unfair to you if I'm not honest.

It's a bit raw. You still have some distance to go before you get to where I think you want to be.

I don't like the lime green links at the top right. I think the color itself clashes with the rest of the page. I don't like the gradient in the title image. The change in the gradient sits between the words Forrest and Croce. It just doesn't look "right".

The general layout looks okay. I'd like to see a footer with some contact info. Maybe a link where I could purchase prints of the photos. There's too many colors. I think you'd be better off picking 3 corresponding colors from the color wheel and going with those instead of all of the grays, blue grays, blues, reds, and lime green that you're using now. Simplify, brother.

The important thing is that the pictures look great and the site is on the right track. Keep working on it.

Thanks.
