I REALLY REALLY like the layout/design

If you wanted to add a bit more, perhaps an image header that goes along with the style or has a brown overtone

One small thing, maybe make the blue links on the bottom left the a darker color?

Other than that, great job!

Nice subject matter; I didn't know anynoe cared about history anymore. You might ant to write about modern civilization and trace things backwards, but it's great regardless.

Is that a common template? I think I've seen it before... I'd change that, and the favicon, but otherwise, very nice.
