Hi,
I've posted before and was told about the html and GET RID OF SITEBUILDER! I haven't got to that point yet but I've completely
redesigned my site. My views are down and my sales as well.
Please be honest and give me your first impressions as to:
http://www.modernabode.com
- Design & Layout of site
- Color theme
- Ease of navigation
- Interest level (1-10)
- Navigation Bar Design
- Would you come back?
Thanks!

You have a good introduction, you say what your site is about. While this sounds so obvious, some websites just don't say what they are about.
But I don't like your header image, it looks very cheap and home made to me. However, I do like a lot that you also say in your header image what you do. Also, you should perhaps make the header image to work a link to your front page.
Your color theme is a bit dull but neutral. You might want to change it a bit away from the gray look. The mouseover effect of the link "tabs" doesn't look good at all, again looks quite a cheap effect.
The navigation is quite good in my opinion. But I'd change the layout of the front page a bit, I'd have the main navigation (the selection of Art, ceramics etc.) on the top, and the other navigation (the selection of About, contact etc.) on the bottom. The search box looks a bit lonely, either make a larger header image and include the search box to the header, or move the search box to somewhere else.

The header like the poster before me said looks cheap. The tabs should also have some work done on them... some of the text comes out of the sides even... that looks very un-professional. Other than those two things it looks pretty good to me.

I agree with everything said above. I'd change the font to something like Verdana perhaps. Honestly, my very first impression was that the home page was cluttered.
One bug I found, when you look at items, ( i.e. http://www.modernabode.com/L032.html ) the top tabs ( About, Contact, Designer... ) are repeated twice.
All in all, I'd change the home page and the tabs. It seems to me that those are the areas that need the most attention.

I tend to agree with others as far as the overall layout is concerned, so I won't repeat those comments.
I'm a little confused by the term mid-Century. We're in the 21st century and we're not even close to the middle of it yet. Maybe it should say mid-20th-Century?
With regard to your tab menu, I'd suggest something like this:
http://exploding-boy.com/images/cssmenus/menus.html
The tabs look better because the text fits in them the exact same way, even though they're different sizes.

Im glad this isn't one of the sites that I have to scroll down all day, but in this case I think it is just a bit too busy.. The colors are not very inventive but they serve their purpose without distracting. On the about page.. and maybe this is just my opinion... but I think the animated speaking woman needs to go. She is funny as hell, but i find that more distracting then helpful for relaying important information.
Good Luck~~!

Hi
Nice art! But I think you can control your website style using css. Personally I like the arts alot. I will back again. But everytime I go back, I got confused.

Hi Jane, I figured that was your voice, but the animation to me is funny looking. I don't suppose you are animated? And it sounds like you are saying 'regu-larily' instead of regularly... Plus it keeps repeating. The site is looking better but I feel bombarded by options on the other pages.
by the way, I would "stand out in the rain till the end for that one great snatch" too LOL.

thanks for your input jacob.
i can stop the repeats on the animated gal. i'm just changing my other pages to eliminate the navigation bar and combine it into one vertical simplified one. it bothered me too

check it out later if you don't mind and provide feedback. i'm so glad someone mentioned this site to me. it has been a great help to me. sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees and the input here is really great.

I quite like the logo. Maybe needs to be a little smaller.
I think the design would look better centered in the browser as some the text on some pages is very close to the left edge.
It would look better if you changed the white background. This is probably just a personal preference but I don't like white backgrounds on sites as it feels like your reading text on a glaring light. Try a light beige or something similar.
I'm not to keen on the cropping of the images on the front page.
I see your using some sort of site builder so i guess your options are limited.

I wouldn't waste your time with flash.. its incredibly expensive unless you use torrents. Plus its is difficult to use if you don't experience and most people are now saying that flash is (at least in large quantities) is out. But it has its place.
