Hey,

At the moment i am working on my new image hosting site www.poggu.com

I would appreciate some feedback on the design. (not the sites features at the moment.)

Would you return to this site?

Does the design look professional and welcoming?

Any other feedback would be great.

Not professional: on widescreen display the logo (top left) is sooo far away from the centered content. And it is completely unnecessary, since there's another logo inside the upload box.

The front page doesn't provide any reason to stay around. It doesn't tell me what will happen if I click upload. Doesn't tell why this image hosting is any better than another.

Agree with the post above, thye main page doesn't ring a bell what 's good about the site or why I should stay there, You've got a loooong way to go to improve it and make more professional.

I don't even know what the site does, and the about page just says "under construction". If I upload an image, where does it go? Who can access it?

I understand the concept, as there's quite a number of free image-hosting sites out there -- but, since you're using XHTML, you might want to learn a bit more about it, as you've already got the following code warnings:

Code:
line 6 column 1 - Warning: <meta> element not empty or not closed
line 7 column 1 - Warning: <meta> element not empty or not closed
line 8 column 1 - Warning: <meta> element not empty or not closed
line 38 column 7 - Warning: <img> element not empty or not closed
line 71 column 31 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 88 column 16 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 93 column 3 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 121 column 76 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 128 column 26 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 17 column 1 - Warning: <style> inserting "type" attribute
line 31 column 1 - Warning: <body> proprietary attribute "topmargin"
line 31 column 1 - Warning: <body> proprietary attribute "leftmargin"
line 35 column 3 - Warning: <table> proprietary attribute "bordercolor"

The logo look out of place. It doesn't fit in, like a sticker...

The first page of a website is very important, give us some info. Why would we bother using your service?
If you look at imageshack.us, they do a horrible job as well. They have one small sentence no one ever sees.

Ah. I can see the site now. I like the way it's clean and interesting logo. However, I personally don't like to see google ads on top of the pages. On the side will be better. I really don't know how many people are actually click on it.

I guess you will allow people to delete image later on. right? Right now, you can pretty much browse your directory and see all the images on your site.

Thanks for all your replies.

I will try adding some more content and remove the ad from the top.

And yes there will be more features coming soon. (such as deleting images)

It's as if it's all been 'flung' together within 5-10 minutes. Organise it a little more. Perhaps move the 'Ads by Google' to the bottom of the page, move your logo.gif to the centre of the page above your 'Browse' and 'Upload' buttons, removing your 'Poggu Imagesv1.0' text. Personally I'd move your navigation to the bottom as well, above your copyright notice.

Regards

Sorry to tell you that, but I think you have a lot of work to do on your website.you have to work on the header of the website, just design it and make it more nice. Also you need to talk about your service in the homepage, try to use another google adsdense ads table and put some text in the homepage.

I think it's a nice idea for a site, I've looked for this service in the past. I do agree with the others, it's not professional and the "what is this" type info needs to be the first thing you see, not down in a table at the bottom...

I think that you need a web designer to do the site or download a template. It doesn't look good

image hosting sites are nice.

problem is there are hundreds of them so competition is high. youre going up against imageshack which is going to be fun

layout is as above a quick fix

maybe add a directory for the uploaded pics

but, above all without registration you are opening yourself to ALOT of controvery and possible legal troubles, if people upload copyrighted or child exploitation images. you will need to keep a log of the ip address' per picture just to say it wasnt you. this is what i would focus on first ABOVE anything else

He is 100% correct. You do not want to leave any kind of hole like that in your legal defenses. Make sure that your terms and conditions are linked from the form or viewable in it. Track IP's for every upload anyway. It isn't going to eat a lot of database space and you will be protected.

Good call LightningGate.
