ok, this is my first HTML website, but please give as amny suggestions as possible. I'm concidering whether i should use flash in the banner and the links, but for now its just html

www.D-I-E.tk

It's a clan site, so keep the theme in mind. Also, we have a flash intro at www.DIElites.tk but the intro leads to the wrong page right now, but I'm going to change it soon.

Overall I thought the look of the site was successful. The look is very dark and macabre and matches the subject matter well. However, most pages on the site did take a long time to load thanks to its graphic intense structure. There is also some inconsistencies in navigation as detailed below.

Home Page
I found the home page to load a little slowly. or, should I say I found the center image (albeit very well done) to load slowly (and I'm on a t1 connection). Upon further investigation (I downloaded the image and reopened it in Photoshop), I found that the image was whopping 800 pixels by 600 and yet it only appears on screen as about 300-400 pixels. Fixing this might make the site load faster. Also, the text immediately underneath that same image was a little small. The rest of the text was fine in my opinion.

Menu Column (right column)
Also, on the right column you have the "menu" title yet I’m not sure that that column is really a menu. The "menu" title does balance it out, but to me it’s really more of a links column than anything else. This designation will cause further confusion as detailed below.

Menu Column (left column)
Overall, fine. In reference to navigation, read below.

Divisions section
There is some navigational inconsistency with this section. When you visit a subpage of “Divisions”, the right column becomes a submenu of “Divisions” complete with each “DIE Clan” division.

However, when you visited a subpage of the “Menu” right under the “Left Column” the right column menu stayed the same (the ads and what not). This discrepancy may confuse visitors.

A possible solution may be to rename the “Right Column” (on the home page & on each subpage of the “Menu” in the “Left Column”) something like “Links” or something. Then you could leave it as is for each sub page of the “Divisions section.” This may teach the visitor that the Right Column is dynamic and will change with each section of the Left Column (except for each sub page of the Menu on the Right Column). A Color on each sub page of “Divisions” may help.

The "brazen claw" page under divisions did not link. Also, the pages under divisions took a real long time to load (the center images appear to actually be larger than they appear and this may account for the increased load time).
"Golden Shields" also did not link

Downloads section
None of the pages linked

Clans Section
Allies page loaded with some errors. I could only see a small flash animation and a menu of “DIE Clan divisions” at the very bottom. The center was empty

And that’s my two cents. Great looking site!

I think it looks pretty cool, but thats not to say that there arn't flaws...

1. I am on Cable internet and it still took a good chunk of time to load. All I had was I red fill and page errors. So I was almost ready to turn back becuase I thought it was possible the entire page was flawed. Lucky enough it loaded before I did.

2. All you Menu and Submenu spliters come across as really slopy becuase they are realy pixelated. As well the "Die Clan Division" images also have signs of pixelation. And it seems like you had to adjust them just to fit you layout. Never do this! Adjust your layout to them, and not them to the layout (Unless you plan to actually plan to remake them.

3. Finnaly it seems realy unbalenced. Just the way you Spliters are masive and then everything else is just ity bity little text. That made everything seem realy out of place. And also the one other thing that seemed out of place was the ">>>>>>> Dominant Immortal Elites <<<<<<<" description. Now I know that just tells everyone what the appreviation stands for, but I didn't think it was nessasary.

So fix that up and I think you should be well on your way. Oh and your music didn't work. That could possibly be the error.

7 out of 10

It looks great for a "first HTML website". I would add, however, that I absolutely hate when sites play music without giving you the option of turning the music on or off ...it clashes with the music I am already playing

Instead, you could save the music in a flash file that gives you the option, "MUSIC: ON OFF". You can do this by cutting off the right 100px of you header and putting that image in a 100px wide SWF file with the music and an on/off option.

Also, reduce the size of the main home page image, "die clan lolo 3.1.jpg". It is currently 466k and needs to be about 46k.

It's not bad for a first website. The layout looks good. Here are a few suggestions. The image files are too large making the downloading slow. I would crunch them. I'm also getting an IE error. It may be the enescaped javascript. I also got some 404 errors when trying to navigate from your menu. I would check all of these links.

But all in all, it looks good.

ok, thanks for every1 who viewed my site. I was wondering why the front image takes so long to load. Also, since I'm trying very hard in making this site a "free" site where I don't have to pay for anything at all, the pages may load up very slowly. DOes anyone know of a free webhost that runs HTML smoothly and loads pages quickly? If so that would be a great help. I was actually thinking the same thing with the music, once I get the flash up for my site, I will have an option where one could turn the music on/off. Frankly, I do not know what the error is, i've been trying to find if i did something wrong, but I can't find it, but for now, I guess I'll have to keep it there.

i'm on cable and it loaded pretty slowly... the graphics are good, layout is generic, two red boxes on both sides of the top graphic throw the bottom part of the layout off by not giving it that "consistency" that would have made it more "fluent" but other than that, for being your first "html site" you did a fairly good job.
