I'm not so sure that it looks very professional. It certainly looks competent. I think the soft, rounded shapes give it a child-like feel. This may or may not be what you intended. Good job for your age, though. I'm impressed.

Thanks for your constructive comments.
Paul Birza - I think your comment has really hit the nail on the head: that is exactly what I would have said if I were reviewing the site.
Kyrnt - I've had a look at the CSS 'logic' and I've tweaked a few things. It might be a bit better now.
I have been making some big changes. The grey bar is gone, and it looks a lot better. I am adding the content at the moment, and I am having problems with the graphics. BackSeatKiss was right - photos are not looking good, which is a pity. But, I've not given up on it yet - there are still a lot of bits that I love about this design, mainly the fact that it is very very original.
So, watch this space, as I will be uploading a new version soon (i'm off for easter hols now, so I'll have more time)
Regards,

Wicko studios 5.1 is now uploaded. This is the first major revision and incorporates (i hope) a lot of your suggestions. Still a long way to go yet. Please let me know what you think.

Hmmm...something is going on with your CSS, wicko. Take a look at this screenshot. This is on Win2000 using Firefox .8...the body does not move at all when maximizing or restoring or refreshing. It stays put in Firefox.
Code:
div.leftbar {
position: relative;
left: 35;
top: 140;
width: 100;
float: left;
}
div.body {
position: relative;
left: 80;
top: 150;
width: 400;
}
the left position of your body div is 80px...uh...now, if my math is right, and the left position of your left bar is 35, for your content to be set to 80 without overlapping, your left bar's width would have to be ony 45px wide to prevent overlapping?
In IE, the body does not overlap that left bar, however, it does move up and down when mazimixing and restoring the browser window.
I know, "when in doubt, refresh"...but visitors shouldn't have to refresh the page just to see how it was intended to be displayed. It's the job of the web designer to make the visitor's experience as user-friendly and pleasant as possible.

I think it rocks. There's nothing that I can input on it. It's definitely original, the first of its kind that I've seen. Actually, there is one thing I could input: on some pages, your content text overlaps with your text on the left, the "Why bystand if you can outstand?" one. Maybe you could pad it or increase the margin a little more?

Apart from a few minor things, Wicko-Studios is now finished. I would appreciate comments on the (nearly) finished version.

Hi
I have to say the layout reminds me of the advert with Carol Vordaman in advert for a loan, for me that a bonus OOOHHH Carol!!( sorry lost my train of thought then), anyway I like the layout and its new and fresh, I personally hate the fact that most websites have more squares than most of my Psychology lectures, I love the use of shapes and colours.
The only thing that’s missing is you little logo next to your copyright text at the bottom of the screen, it’s on the front screen and not on the rest which is a pity.
Also turn you "contact me to find out more" into a mailto link if poss it would make it easyier to use.
Hope some of my rambling has been helpful.
Simon

I agree with simon. Sqaures squares squares.
I LOVE the refreshing colours and shapes.
Not sure about what it looks like in wierd and wonderful browsers. Why are they using a wierd browser anyway. lets remember that 95% of PC's sold & bought have windows operating systems love em or hate em its fact.. Thats a whole lot of Pc's potentially most of which have windows explorer because it comes free and updates are free. The only other one worth using is Netscape or Advanced Browser (which is microsoft anyway) I have a whole load on my PC I use for development and you know what - who cares.
I think its great to see a young designer having a go and coming up with fab design work like this. Working out the small glitches is part of the job sure but dont get too sidetracked into worrying about how it looks in mozilla 4 or opera 5.

Design wise I think it great I do like the simple look and it does seem to download quickly. Great job. Simons right though I do kinda expect Coral to walk out of the center of it and try and sell me a loan.

Thanks nixies - Its nice to be told it downloads quickly: means all my image optimization is not in vain! I'm not sure what all this loans and carol vorderman thing is about though...!
I will be finishing the site very soon now, I've been working on another site recently, which I shall post for a review soon.
Thanks again!

Only thing I saw was you misspelled organization in your body. You have it spelt organisation when it is actually organization. Other than that, excellent work. I like this a lot. I think I like it better without the great strip at the bottom. Good thought taking it out.

Wow, I learn something everyday. My apologies, the form of the word you are using is correct. With the "Z" it is referring to how organized a person is. The form you are using "S" is referring to a governing body. I think I have to change a few instances of that on a couple of my sites. Thank you for the lesson today.

I didn't know that... so the z and s versions actually mean different things do they? Cool!

Yup, that is according to http://www.dictionary.com. They are completely different words with completely different meanings. I thought that was interesting. I have always though there was just one way of spelling it.

Its definitely a refreshing original design.
The only thing that bothered me was the script font on the left. Its barely readable, It hink you should change it to a more readable font or one of the fonts youre already using.
Also I really like your logo.

So, if organization and organisation are different words, what about recognized and recognised, or hypotizing and hypnotising?????

Thank you for the comment about the logo. I like it too - I think its very important to have a good company logo.
Yeah, I kinda agree about the scripts down the left. I couldn't think of anything else to go there! Any suggestions? I suppose I could just change the font.
Thanks for reviewing my site.
