I would live the links black or blue. I really do not think the solid blue piece matches right.

I am liking the mouseover color, but the standard color should maybe be a dark blue, thinking along navy lines probably. Good luck.

I agree, the top links should be the rollover blue they are now. Then make them maybe a black as the rollover color. I think I would also lighten up the bar below the header, and above the body. That dark blue that is currently there does not mix well. Other than that, I like the layout and the current color scheme. I would like to see the final version if you do.

Maybe its just me, buy, for a football site it seems a little feminine. No offense or anything, but, the baby blue color doesn't really work for me. I really like that fade to white however. Maybe its just my taste but maybe a black fading to white? I dunno I think maybe a bit more aggressive styling for something like that. The layout is not bad at all however. Maybe you could put something in that bottom bar also?

yeah i have thought about it being to.. light.

but i figure, the ads will be football related and have a bunch of aggressive stuff on it. And i am gonna put a picture or two in the center for news.. The bottom bar i have not done anything with yet. I will maybe put some graphics in it. The Flash may add a little to the football macho side. I think a clean and clear design will work - thought it wont be this clean and clear. I will have to see when i am done. Good points though. Thank you!

check it out - http://hauserkyl.ridgewater.net/test/

- what do you think about the idea's thus far? Does it take too long to load? all of the other content will be text so this is about at large as it gets. It will take awhile to get all the links set up correctly in the middle, so i am doing a lot of trial and error.

Thanks for the comments!

Hi Kyle.

Yep, its pretty good. Perhaps the search box is a little prominent, and should possibly go on the far right hand side instead. You need a title for your website - both a graphic heading and something other than Untitled Document in your <title></title> tags. The blue gradient at the top and bottom looks very nice. I can't really say much more until I see a fuller version.

Good luck with it, it has potential,

Regards

nice looking colour scheme but not for that topic.

it looks a tad 'generic' and could be for anything.

more content obviously needed

coming along tho.........

The search box could be a little smaller. I get a horizontal scrollbar and I'm in 800x600. I like the blue colors. No content yet though, so it's harder to judge. Be sure to add meta tags!

Overall = nice!

I'm liking it. Glad you took our advice (in the other topic) for the navbar colors with the links. It's getting better. Loads fast. No compatibility errors on my end.

Smart design. Only a few points I have to make about improvements are -

As earlier mentioned, the Name needs to be changed from the default 'Untitled Document', once thats done, the site will look a lot more professional.

Loading time could be improved, I'm on Broadband and it took about twenty seconds for it to load for me. Perhaps cut up some of the bigger graphics so they load faster.

Apart from that, the site looks great. I really like the design. Perhaps you can add a logo at the top to give the site more identity though. Just an idea. A

Anyway good luck with the site and good work

I think this site is coming along nicely. I agree with everyone, make the search box smaller, it is far too big.

The next thing I have is PLEASE DO NOT USE THOSE TWO AD BOXES FOR ADS. That will be way to many ads on your homepage. Please figure out some content to put there as compared to google ads.

Keep working on it. I am very curious to see the final version.

Okay, I think this site will be released in 2006, so i have a long time to work on things and get them perfect. I have to figure out how to do all the log-in script and search script. I am in college for website and multimedia, I am gonna release it after i'm through with the course.

On the ads, the first year this site is going to be up , it will be free to everyone. A year or two in,when it gets popular enough. I may start charging 5 or 10 bucks for all the information I load onto it. the basics will still be free, but the extra content just a small charge. I want to make a little money off of this site so i figured ads would be the way to go.. ads from other football sites that is.

I may have to change a few things for the site to load faster, I think it is the gradients that takes the longest time. Or is it the flash? I could turn the top flash into a gif , it looks the same about.

I changed the title, i wasn't too worried about that just yet so i put it off. I am in the process of laying out my content and links on the first page where i expect A LOT of links to be. the left side will be used for headlines.

If you have until 2006, then you have plenty of time!

For text, Flash usually loads very quick in my experience.

Technology is changing all the time. By that time, there will be a huge changes to the way sites are made and the design of sites, layouts on sites will alter and so on, so try to make a start on site now and get the site up now, just to get things going and keep updating it. That way there'll be less work to do when you finally decide to open the site properly.
