I'd suggest adding some graphic to it... a colorful header maybe.
Looks to me like a directory, or one big google ad

Yeah that is very plain. You really need to spruce it up a little. I think you need to add something to describe what your site is about. It looks like a directory with adsense placed around. Good luck with it!

Hi - It seems a little bland at the moment, perhaps an image or better use of colour may help.
