This is one of my first sites. The side panel uses php to randomly select articles I've written for display. I made all the graphics myself and just want some opinions on ease of navigation as well as site design and errors.

Thanks.

i guess a url would help: http://bodybuilding-science.com

Hey Your site looks good!
I would only consider some less contrasting colors, eventually.
"more information" is quite unfortunate name for a google ads box. It will hurt Your credibility.
good job!

Ok. Not too bad, but here's some suggestions.

If you want to keep that grid background, tone it down. It's almost like an optical illusion the way it is.

The other colors aren't bad, red and black is a very strong combination. However, I would lose the glow on the menu images, it's just too much.
The blue for your links is a bit harsh, maybe tone it down a bit.

You need some padding on the left side of your main content area. Doesn't look good and inhibits readability to have the words smooshed up against the box borders.

Code-wise..
Messy, ugly nested tables. You've got an XHTML doctype yet you're using nested tables for layout .. bad combination as XHTML is meant to separate content from presentation.

You have a lot of useful information there. I know how time consuming the information part is.

Here is a handy little tool. http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html
This tool comes in handy from time to time when you need color schemes when designing a site. I have trouble with this myself sometimes.

Some colors just don't go together. Although you want people to see your links and you want them to stand out, a good color scheme will help that process.

Good luck with the site!

I think your right about the menu buttons, that really is a bit much now that I look at it, and the padding is also a good point. Thanks for taking a look at it.
