other people have suggested via PM that I should ask for a review of my site... I don't really think its fair of me as I can hardly find the time to review other peoples sites, but if anyone wants to comment on it they can do so here (I'll fully understand if you can't find the time)...

Don't worry about being too harsh with me... I can perhaps do with been knocked down a peg or two after finding out I scored a link from an Internet.com property (Webopedia)... still find it hard to believe!

Hey Tiggy,

Don't worry about being fair by rating other sites or giving IMO's. There's no rule about you have to rate some to get rated. So it's fair. Besides, I get to view others sites to give them my IMO's and I can really learn and get ideas from others. Anyway...

I really like the site. The appearance is good. It is not heavily laden with graphics that would really have no place with this "down-to-the-business" site.

The functionality is great and you have shown that the form follows the function. I couldn't find any broken links. Only one thing that I didn't like (it's a personal preference) is that when I click on an ad for Amazon, it takes me off the site with no return link back to your site. I know some advertisers require that they open in same window, but I prefer for them to open in another window. It's my laziness....I see something that interests me in an ad and I click on it, but I don't want to leave the site I'm on. I know, good habit is to bookmark....that's why I said it is a personal preference.

It's a plus that you have a nav bar under your title that will take you back home or the next level up. And the site is well organized.

I only found one spelling error, a word ended in "re" instead of "er". I'm just kidding on that one....the difference between USA and UK English.

Good job! Congrats on the link with Webopedia!

I give an 8 for general public, but a 9 for webmasters or would-be webmasters.

Thanks, actually now that you mention it, I'm the same about opening new windows (usually surf with at least 6 open)... only I tend to right click on most of the links anyway out of habit. Which Amazon link did you follow? If it was the one under the menu, I can do something about it (just change a single file)... however if it was the dynamic Amazon banner ad then I have no control over the way that works as it is served directly from Amazon (why waste my bandwidth when I don't have to?)...

Funny you should mention the spelling (I know you were joking)... but at times I wish I was American... perhaps then I'd find it easier to stick to a single "standard" English... I've probably used both thoughout the site (color and colour... etc) depends on the settings on the copy of Word I use at the time I suppose...

Thanks for you comments. Much appreciated.

Actually, I thought both were served from Amazon since they change with each page view or refresh. (Did you fake me out by putting in a snippet of java?) I tried the button under Recommmended and the banner that is near bottom and both sent me away.

I only have 4 windows open at the time, along with my OE. I will right click when I find out that the link is taking me away and then I go back to start over. I have found a few sites that will not let you use the back button, now that's not fair. Then it's hit the history and find out where I was.

Passing thought: I don't think most Americans know what "standard" English is.......I'm in West Virginia and most can't even spell English (just teasing, please, no cards and letters). I think there are more dialects on the East Coast of the US than there are total in all English speaking countries, but I guess they try to spell the same....:

No, I don't use Java (not very browser friendly)... it's all done on the server and is simply an ASP routine that decides on a suitable topic for the page and serves up a random book that is related and that I have read (or in most cases, have sitting on my bookshelf).

I'll fix the recommended link the next time I make an update.

Still having problems accessing MSN and the forums (everywhere else is fine but this is so frustrating I feel a bout of 'net rage coming on!)
