I currently have a few projects on-the-go, this being my latest.

Flaffle is a search engine, but ranked by incoming traffic. The way I looked at it when developing the website was that if a website is popular, it must contain relevant content to what it's users are looking for. So, instead of sorting results based on keywords, mutual links etc. like most engines do, I decided to sort the results by incoming traffic to Flaffle.com.

All websites wishing to be listed on Flaffle have to first create a link from their own website, to Flaffle. Our bot does not 'crawl' sites like most other bots do. Instead, the bot indexes each page that is sending traffic individually, making it easier to check from broken links. In theory, if a site sends a visitor to Flaffle via a page on their site, that page exists and is active. Effectively, the broken links sort themselves out.

It's a crazy concept, but after the first 'push', I expect things to go well.

You're really going to need sites in the datebase to have this thing take off. Otherwise people will use it and won't find anything.

I really like what you're trying to do with it, I'm just worried about it not taking off because of various reasons.

Let me see if I understand this right. I have to have a link on every page of my site if I want Flaffle to (potentially) show every page of my site to someone searching? Isn't that a bit, um, weird?

This will die on the vine in its present capacity.

What you end up with is a variant of a link exchange, and the savvy webmaster will realize that Flaffle.com gets the long end of the stick.

Having a gimmick is never a bad idea, but this just isn't the right gimmick. Sorry.

Really love the design, especially the Christmas theme. I had trouble finding anything though.

Because there's nothing there. How is he going to get people in the search engine if they have to put a link on every page that they want listed?

If Google, Yahoo!, or MSN adopted this policy, they wouldn't be The Big 3.

It's a novel approach. It may cause some people to link, just because it's different. As people some times just do things to be different.

Though, I still have doubts as to who will link to it. Will you be doing any external advertising?

The simple design is the right idea.
