I just saw the post about this new forum on WHT - so I thought I would join & make a post about our new site that was just launched a few days ago
http://www.FindMyHosting.com
The site is new - so any comments about the site, how it functions, how it looks etc is very welcome.
FindMyHosting is radically different to any other hosting directory out there.
Let us know what you think
Many Thanks

Hey NovaW,
Good to have you here at the FWT forum!
It is 4:45 AM here, so I'm not in top-notch site review mode yet.
But my initial impression was very nice!
I'll get back to your site tommorrow. I just wanted to give you a quick welcome post...

You must be East Coast time - I'm Central time - so 3-50am here - which reminds me - I need to go to sleep! Look forward to your feedback on FindMyHosting when you get time to look it over
Best Regards

Welcome NovaW!
Just wanna say that the site is really looking good. Professional like design and nice color combinations but small fonts are used to describe about the site... over all its Good! i give it 7 over 10

I'm not going to give a review as such (I don't have time for it), just my initial reaction.
It's impressive! I want to add it to my Web Hosting links on my site when I next update; if you want any input into how it reads, feel free to send me your ideas via email or PM.
BTW - this is the page it will be going on
http://websiteowner.info/resources/links/webhosting.asp
BTW - I recommend you change all instances of "unlimited" to "unmetered" with perhaps a page explaining why. Personally I think any host offering unlimited anything is misleading the user as it is not realistically possible... even "unlimited" plans will have what they deem is acceptable. Making this small change could make your site all the more credible with those who know enough about hosting to believe the unlimited hype.

Thanks!!
The suggestion of changing unlimited to "unmetered" is really a great suggestion. Then in the pop-up help we will explain the difference.
We had planned to remove unlimited as an option - we do comment in the help about the pitfalls of unlimited, but I really like the suggestion of changing the word to unmetered.
I'll email you about the text for the link, which we are very grateful for.
Best Regards

Well, I went to your site and did some browsing around to see if I could find anything I didnt like, typos, or problems.
And, I couldnt really find anything!
If I wanted to be really picky, I could say the text is a bit small for people like DMo224, but that's about all (just kidding Dave ).
Great Site.
Do you plan on eventually opening up an affiliate program for this site?
...Good point Tiggy.

Hi NovaW,
I think you have a good site with a lot of great features. Colors, graphics, load times, and arrangement are all good, IMO. Since I have a 19" monitor and keep it at 800x600, text was fine. I didn't even need bifocals, hehe.
I did several searches on the site and was pleased with the results. I tried some very narrow searches and only twice got the following message: Error Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record. LINE188 Routine : a2dsearchresults.I_init. I would suggest that if no record matches the search criteria, that a page shows that explains that and that page have the navigation at the bottom like the search results pages have.
Craf had a good idea with the rating system, but I don't know if we all have the same criteria. IMO, the functionality along with the purpose of the site and the appearance make it a very good site. If I put a number in, I might have to go back to all of the reviews and do that.....but I'll think about it...

Thanks for the comments.
Thanks also for finding that no results bug. We'll need to fix that asap, as we hadn't come across it.
Normally when no results are found it goes to a page that makes some suggestions on how to change the results or gives some results that were close, but didn't exactly match
Best Regards

Hi
We've just uploaded a lot of changes & additions to FindMyHosting. So we're itchin for some feedback!
We got a lot of good constructive feedback - especially via this site - which helped us improve what we had in place before we start to pull the marketing trigger so to speak.
Many Thanks

Hey Nova,
I'm glad you got good feedback! Feel free to do your own review on the other sites listed here.
I went back to your site to look it over again. IMO, it is a very good site. I did do some very narrow searches again, and I did get a couple that didn't find any host meeting my requirements. But this time, no errors received and the no matches screen did come up. A couple of times, there were sites listed that came close....good feature too.
This time I also went through the entire process up to purchase, but I didn't purchase, just to check the process and links. Not that I could actually try each and every one, but the ones I tried worked very well. I even stored plans and then unstored 'em.
I think this would work well as an affiliate program or as a link from any site that offers help to webmasters or potential webmasters.
Only suggestion that I would make at this time would be to add a "close" button at the bottom of the long pop-up help windows. It's one of those picky type things that us lazy people like when we scroll down to the bottom of the pop-up, we don't have to go all the way up to the top to close it. Hey, I said it was a lazy persons thought!
Good site! Good job!
Dave

Thanks Dave for taking the time to re-review. I appreciate it
Close buttons at the bottom of the popup help windows - what a great idea! - We'll add that.
An affliate program does make sense - we plan to explore that once we get a good grip on what our average revenue per visitor is. The idea we have is to have an actual search box available on an affliates site, with a pay-per click affliate payment.
I'll start reviewing other sites on the board - please excuse me for not having done so.
Also - I plan to add FWT as a link in our web resources section.
Thanks Again
