I have just tried my hand at making a website. Tis second site I have made, but last one was just updating the design. As you can see this one is still not completely finished because I still need to get a few things sorted with articles and so forth, but I am looking for general first impressions on the entrance to the site and the design of the main pages. There will hopefully be a few articles on in a few days, but is there anything that you think i should really add to the site to really set it off? What do you think of the colour scheme?

I used phpnuke, but I really didn't like it. Instead made my own dedicated script to use. Anyone got any ideas if it is that bad as to how to make it betteR?

I think it's fine... except I'd change the Logo at the top... Maybe add some color too... Like Yellow...

OK, its not AWFUL, but it could be better. I think the 3D beveling is pretty old-style, but everyone overdoes it on their first sites

The logo color, it really needs to change. Red on pink is just not doing it for me.

Around his text he has a 3D looking border -- that is beveling. Beveling can be done very well (subtle) but generally new designers (myself included) like REALLY BIG bevels.

I like the site, it is very informative, but I am not really liking the colors. Also, it is knid of dull, try adding some graphics.

I'm going to work on the banner, thinking of trying to use a picture of teenages slightly faded and the text in front of it. maybe link the menu bar in with it as well.

Well man, it dosent look to god. You must change colors and header. The logo will look fine if it wasnt 3D, and maybe if You change color.

If I was on your place I would use PHP Nuke, PostNuke or Xoops.

They have some nice free themes.

It has potential but I think the logo and the buttons on the top of the site have really got to go. They are pretty poorly designed. 5/10

Hi

There is quite a mix of styles here.

I would CERTAINLY get rid of the blue to dark blue gradient background, as most of it can't be seen so it just adds unnecessarily to the downloading time.

The image above the "Designed and maintained by David Mulholland © 2004" seems to have come from nowhere, and doesn't fit it (in my opinion of course.)

I like the title image and the 5 main links at the top. Perhaps the text could be made easier to read, but the pictures are quite nice.
