classeium hrm well I suppose play with it a little... the data cluster tree on the left might be one reason... the fact that it queries multiple sources and returns the most relevant results is another... But its all personal preference I guess.

Cool design.

But why is it the directory link doesn't contain any categories? are you accepting site submissions?

Very nice! I love the people search option - very simple and effective.

You may want to use an AJAX like solution to change between pages though as it jumps a bit from page to page but I'm just being picky

Good luck,

I like the look of it but I did several searches and found some sites not related at all to the term but were listed well. I looked at those sites and couldn't find out how they got there. Other than that I like it.

stryfe, can you list the terms and the sites for us please. This would be a good study for everyone I think in the mechanics of a meta engine.

thanks

That is awesome. I like the way you used a kinda windows explorer type thing or what ever you call it on the left. thats very helpful. I think this site will do well. Was it hard to make? and how long did it take? I added it to my favorites

Surch,

I think you have a superb site, i like it very much. Im over in the UK currently and think you could have something attractive to the UK market also.

You do need to increase your data but a site submit should take care of that.

I think you may need to go free with your directory to kick start your data off. I cant see webmasters paying to feature in a directory with no data in it when they can pay to list in more established ones. In 12 mths time you could then start charging once you have a good level of initial data in it.

Dont think about importing biased directory junk like dmoz etc into it, go for own edited directory listings that way the data you do have in it will be quality.

If you want to be really different, you could use your directory as part of your serps. IE give weight to sites in your serps that you have edited via your directory side. No one does this currently as it would take a long time to do, but the end results are obvious, it would virtually eliminate spam and junk sites from your results and you would then have a search engine that was different.

All in all, i like it, nice one

Rich

Rich, thanks! glad you like it! the data Im assuming you are talking about is within the directory right? as for the engine itself it has more or less the same DB size as the top3... you can use our new tool (totaly redone in ajax and updated today) at:
Surch.com: in the Lab

This will show you how effectively we are at getting results.

thanks!
