I think the red is just fine, but the black type on the dark red is so small I can not make it out even at 800x600 resolution. And at that resolution, the file is too wide to display on one screen width.
How come you are using an iframe? When I go to your "About Me", not only do I have the sideways scroll, but I can't see the scroll in the iframe because it is off my screen.
When I go to your Portfolio, mouse over turns the font the same color as the background. There are a couple of other places where mouseover does weird things with underlines, etc. as well.
Overall I would say the site needs substantial work.
