Alright, as usual, we'll start with the positive... You have some nice pictures here, each of which blend well with this simple layout. Sadly, your loading time is not as good as I could have hoped for. It took over ten seconds for me to load this page at first. On a DSL connection, that should not be. Although this is a simple, safe layout, I don't find a problem with it, seeing as how this is a church, and you are not concerned about customers, etc. Church is meant to be serious, it doesn't have to be "spiced up". The site seems well planned.

I know on the photogallery page, the speed in crazy slow. I'm working on coming up with a better idea to show the pictures.

What about the front page's speed though, is it just slow due to too much content or did I do something that could have been avoided?

Perhaps too many pictures.... I'm not sure what quality the pictures are, but they need to be something small like .gif or .jpg and not .bmp .

I think it's OK. Just reduce the picture resolution and use .gif for thumbnails.

As far as the photogallery goes, the thumbnails need to be optimized. Right now they are anywhere from 20Kb to 200Kb. The thumbnails should not exceed 30Kb each (and they could go even smaller then that).

<edit>
As for Frofi's suggestion, photo images like yours would actually come out smaller in filesize if they are saved as compressed jpeg's then gif's
</edit>

Good job ! It looks pretty good
I'm on a cable connection.. no load time problems at all.

My only comment would be on the Resources page. You need to put some left margin in there to get the list away from the very edge of the page area.

Are you guys all talking about the HOME PAGE or the photo gallery page??

As far as the pics on the home page, they are JPEG pics. That will be changed in a few minutes. I'm gonna try to make them smaller though to load quicker

As far as the photo gallery, they are all JPECs because when you click the pictures, the original version opens up.

LadynRed, I'll attempt to fix this asap. Thanks for the suggestion

It's very nice, and I have absolutely no loading problems on the home page.

On the photo gallery however, the photo's are indeed loading very slowly. Why don't you make any thumbs? Just loading the whole image and letting the browser resize it is so slow!

Also, the resource link at the top (every page) falls off in opera. Very pitty, because the rest of the layout is very nice.

I'm not seeing that problem in Opera 8.51. I even reduced my window size to 640x480 and it's fine. What version of Opera are you seeing this in ?

I'm using opera 8.54, resolution (1280x1024, so that's not the problem)

Nice site! I liked the layout and thought the banner/logo and navigation bar were great. Perhaps a few images could be optimized and there are a few too many blank spaces on the main page but overall very good.

eh, I have no idea about Opera. I doubt any of the people viewing this site will be using opera.

I don't really know what else to put, do you have any suggestions?

I use opera. I admit that not many peaople use it (even though it's an awesome browser), but it's still the third biggest browser.

Don't worry about adding more to your main page, it's not necessary. Too much stuff isn't good either. There is no reason to cram anything and everything onto a home page for a site. Yours is not a portal, it's a small church site, you've got the important stuff there, that's all you need. It looks just fine
