I started to design some stuff for friends, and got myself in over my head. Needless to say I am advertising with my own site...HC Concepts. I am very pleased with the first version of this site, but as a website it is ver limited in that I am not yet employing css. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

Doesn't look like it to me. The graphics are stunning and completely appropriate for those type of sites. However they are not appropriate if the purpose of the site is to advertise on the web. As long as you are sending clients to your site then what you have is OK. If you are expecting to get visitors to your site it is not going to happen in its current format.

Get rid of the first page and make your profile page the home page. Add copy and content, especially to the home page. Have you ever wondered how some tacky and ugly site can be ranked in the top five on Google? The answer is content and keywords. The spiders cannot see the graphics. Yours are excellent but they mean nothing to the search engines.

Start a links page and do links to and from the sites you have already designed along with any other revelant sites. Do some research on SEO.

Hello!

Ok! The site looks all right!

Here are things to consider for improvment...
1:More Text and Context
2:Some smaller buttons
3:More info on your products...

Thoes are some of the nice things to add on!!!!

Thanks for your reply....I will definitely get rid of the splash page, and try to add more content including pricing. What's wrong with the buttons?

My plan is to redo the site in the coming weeks after grasping css, and how to employ it with my site.

The graphics are very nice. But I have to say the same thing, you should add some more content.

Your font is way to big. With 800x600 resolution you can't see anything without scrolling.

The nice guy that I am I took a screenshot for you

That's what I see. I like the layout and graphics, but you just need to make them a little smaller.

Yeah I totally agree with you that it is too big for smaller resolutions. I really want to throw some css on this site, so that it will scale the right way no matter the res...even so I have zero skills when it comes to css.....but am searching for the answer.

Yes go for css
When you do, scale things that you want to expand in em rather than px. This will enable them to enlarge in IE aswell as Firefox, if you chose a px value the font won't scale up.
Try 0.7em as a start, that's a good size for paragraph fonts.
Keep learning the CSS though, you won't regret it, I didnt.

Try these links:

For layout:

For reference:

Good luck, your design is a good start!
