Not bad for a first attempt. My suggestions are as follows:

Change the font to Arial throughout - it may just be my opinion, but I think Arial is much easier to read than Times New Roman.

Also, make the links stand out a bit more down the left hand side, they fade into the background a bit too much.

Well, one of the first rules of website design is to never use music unless the music is justified and absolutly essential. If the client requested it then fair enough - but its not reccomended.

- Arial or any sans serif font. I prefer verdana to be perfectly honest or Franklin Gothic Book. However it is good practice to specify more than one font in case the original preference is not installed on the visitors computer.

There is no space between the title and the top of the website. This makes the title look out of place. I reccomend that you add a space tag (<br><br>) to increace the gap between the title and the top of the page.

You have added a dividing image above the "Click here to see our daily tasks" text. It looks out of place - remove it or reposition it. Additionally there is a huge gap between that text and the next paragraph. Reduce the size of this gap.

Finally, there is a colour discrepancy between the background colour and the body colour you need to update the website to remove this discrepancy because whilst it isnt initialy notable, it becomes more annoying the longer you look at it.

I know that there is alot of information here (I apologise in advance) however these improvements do need to be made to finish the website.

Good Luck in the future.

Hey,

as for first impressions, it was not bad. But I have a 19" LCD monitor
(acer 192) and the grey on the background is difficult to see. Also, I am visiualy impared so I increase the text size in IE. This creates flow problems with text over pictures. But, overall I liked it. Did you <map> the pictures?

I am a firm believer in valid html/css.

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...e%2Findex.html

http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/v...usermedium=all

And as a final note, instead of telling me "Best viewed at", why not make a "Click here for the xx version?"

Good job

I ran the validation and there are 9 errors.
I'll live with that- in the meta's it doesnt matter if the search engines find it or not
it's for their friends and families.

anything else you see please let me know
also if you have suggestions on the backgr for firefox
thanks again

Im happy you decided to make a higher-resolution friendly version.

Validity is one of the quality criteria for a Web page, but there are many others. In other words, a valid Web page is not necessarily a good web page, but an invalid Web page has little chance of being a good web page.

So no, don't strees about it. Think about it. But whatever you do, don't "stfu" about it.

Good job

one suggestion on the firefox background is the doctpye in the wrong place (who mentioned validation?)

it should be in this order (and preferably the correct version of html as well

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
<HTML>

if you do this then the background will work

**********************************

wmtalk.tk: you're obviously much smarter than us because we try and make valid sites so then we're stuck with code that
a) is more cross browser compatible
b) more accessible/easier for screen readers/*helps* meet accessibility laws (part of the checks say that code should be valid and preferably not deprectated
c) easier to debug if something doesn't work
d) displays backgrounds
e) will be far easier to change to xhtml (if it isn't already)
f) won't throw browsers into quirks/non-standard mode (unless we *want* it to)
g) will work in future browsers and work better in IE if they ever get around to fixing it
h) means in will work in browsers other than IE without breaking

poor us...

google and ebay? since when did we aspire to their design standards?!

"it doesn't matter" it matters because otherwise we end up with piles of crap like IE that will display any sort of naffness that you throw at it and actively encourage morons with no design/code skills to make websites that work in IE with proprietory code, invalid/broken tags and all sorts of cack and then turn round and moan when people mention validation and say "doh it works for me"

ignoring standards leads to things like the browser wars, and MS (in particular) going off and picking what bits of the spec they feel like supporting or not, what bits they feel like redefining through interpretation (hello MS box model...)

but what the heck, everyone uses IE right? it works, i can see it works, i'm looking at it right? who cares if we have to hack sites to death to get them to work in poorly standards compliant browsers (IE) it's only more work/stress for us and more money for clients to pay

it matters to me and it matters to my clients (do they want a site that only works properly in IE?/other browser) and it matters to the future of web development that sites move towards standards compliance.

stfu

#content { background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed; text-align: center; visibility: visible; margin: 0 auto; padding: 2px; top: 30px; left: 210px; width: 800px; height: auto }

I like the look of the site for sure. Instantly relaxes you so you continue to read on. Spot on really for the 'atmosphere' you need to generate quickly so that the content is deemed suitable.

Very good effort.

On the "About Us" page if you bring the text down in the table not the menu list (just by one line, that should be enough) as it is a little close to the title of the site. Other than that I think it looks fab

Best regards,

MM

The text should be changed and alittle larger. I would also remove borders or frames from photos. I would rework photos as well. I like the image of Jesus in the back. I not a fan of stationary images with scrolling on top. Just my opinion.
Thanks Craig
