new site layout

Please give me some suggestions on my new layout at www.paoliwm.com/. The new version is just going to a bunch of links probably, I reall just want another project in my portfolio for now, since I already have this domain...

I sure like your logo, nice colors and freshness.

The first thing that struck me when the page loaded was that you use "basic" font face. If you switch to another font than the default, or maybe just with smaller font + bold, you'll get a visual that isn't so "plain".

I also would like to suggest that you try to test to expand the logo to the right to fade away and integrate the banner in the the fading logo....

Now look at it, its changed. I think this is better. Maybe the logo isnt as good, but that can always be improved later on.

This is more of a personal preference, but when the background is as dark as it is, sometimes off-white or light grey text will look better than the dark blue or black.

Other than that, IMO, it looks fairly good. The logo could be improved, but I don't have a suggestion on how right now. You might try entirewww's suggestion for the logo.

I suggest "patience", in a friendly way. IMHO, asking often for suggestions doesn't give members time enough to view the others asking for suggestions and they'll probably skip over the ones they have already made suggestions in.

Be patient, you'll get suggestions.

ok heres my suggestions. yay suggestions.

first off. i personally dont like the star look on the logo. and what makes it worse is that you have stars on the menu, this gives off totally the wrong impression of your site.

my second is, your site is too blue. ive had this problem before. i love the color blue and all. but its way too blue. add some other colors onto it.

third, it would be better if your a:link hover was white instead of black. just looks a lot nicer with the color contrast

fourth, your site just seems to be links to other sites. one question...are you getting paid for putting up other sites links?
if you arent, then why dont you try to offer a service of your own and try to get paid for putting up their links.

all in all. its a really good start and a well workable design. keep at it, just some minor adjustments and you got it.

ok this is the suggestions forum but imma give a full review.

last time i gave you a 7.5 overall, this time it might improve

Appearance
Colors - 10/10 Outstanding, i just love the southwest theme

Fonts - 7/10 its the default font, could use some touches

Graphics - 6/10 you need more graphics, more examples of your work, plus fix them up a bit

Logos - 8/10 i love the cactus, the text could use a better font, and the slogan needs to a be a tad smaller. great job though

Layout - 7/10 i liked the old one better with the small table in the center. but this one is really good, seems to be organized, one thing i have to complain about is the menu at the top, make a drop down menu. i would give a 10/10 if you make a nice drop down menu with the sitemap and all.

Backgrounds - 10/10 seems to be in order. good job

Functionality
Navigation - 5/10 not too happy with the menu, make a drop down menu

Links - 5/10 same as above

Load Time - 10/10 quick loading, excellent

Bugs - 10/10 no problems here

Overall & Content Purpose of site
Does appearance and purpose of site match - 10/10

Technical
Typos - 10/10 havent found any yet
Wording - 10/10 i like your wording, very professional
Grammar - 10/10

Overall 8.0

I think your ready for the WT award, try to fix some stuff though

yea, but its a little too blue, try adding some other colors into it...

i used to have ghettocars like that, now i have white, blac ,yellow, red on it.

all blue doesnt look too well...
