Latest and greatest - Directory / Review site with a difference.

Now, Its no where NEAR! finished.
Im still playing with the design and currently writing the crawling bot.

This is what it is AND WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT!

- Its a directory essentially
- Its a review site , So people can rate and review.
- Its a SE ( So will do searching )

ITS MAIN FEATURE.
Will be the pixel crawler.

Basically the empty rectangle below the first site will be full of different color pixels ( Each color represents a category )

Anyway, As your mouse will hover over a pixel, a small info box will popup with the site screenshot and some basic info.
You can then visit, review or bury the site.

When a site is submitted, It will be crosschecked that its not already indexed.

If its not, It will crawl the site . Get the keywords, get a description and grab a screenshot. It will then be placed on the pixel matrix.

Sites that get the most hits / rating will be put on the front page in a realtime dynamic way. ( changes every reload )

Once the crawler is up and running it should fill the pixel box quite quickly.

Im thinking of making the pixels 4x4 or 5x5 rather than 1x1.

Anyway, Its not meant to be "the next big thing" or even a big site.
Im just experimenting in my free time.

Any thoughts?

Its also a live testing ground, So you may see things change over time and even functionality will change.

Registered users will be able to review new sites submitted to enhance their own listing.

I think it would be helpful to potential reviewers if there was more content to look at to give your design more context. Content is king, after all.

That said, I noticed a couple little things. The spacing between the end of the 'menu box' and the text should be uniform of the left and right. See how close "Submit site" is to the edge?

Also, the search box at the top... having the magnifying glass icon on the right and act as a "go" button would be less confusing for users. Just about any search box like that anywhere has the button after the text box on the right.

Thanks for your comment, Ill certainly look at fixing those issues as i move forward with the design.

I was thinking.. People who "review" other sites can earn credits.
These credits can then be used to bit for placements on the frontpage / top of their own category, Thus rewarding people for making content?
