Hello,

I'm almost finished with the newest upgrade to the site, I would like a Preview please.

www.hawgbuster.com/~webmaster/index.htm

Changes:

Went to a darker yellow, actually matches the company colors closer and is easier on the eyes. Started adding more blues into the site. Categorized the menu (not finished). Added improved logo header. Redid the shadow - thinner and blue. Redid the graphics for the right column tables. Optomized meta tags and titles, as well as adding alt tags to all prominent images. Put the main page's content into two column table for better spacing and prevent akward wrap-around. Added "buy now" links for direct link to store in case visitor doesn't care about more info.

I uploaded the site to a temp directory via FTP so Frontpage extensions aren't working.

how's it look?

Well done. What a difference from your first version...

Nicely laid out, good navigation, plenty of "call to action" links, and a much nicer header. And it looks more professionally made as well. The only criticism I have is that in the left nav bar your "Home" link is an image, and all the rest are text. When I was on a sub page, I looked around for a link to your Home page and finally realized that the image was a link. Some people may not realize it.

All in all, 100000% improvement over previous versions.

Nice job. Congrats.

Vito

Yea I wasn't quite sure if I want to keep HAWGBUSTER the home link or not. Maybe what I can do is put another text link below it that says Home but still have the image point to index.

Reason I have that is because each category button is going to link to a page - I'm going to have a Products page that focuses on all the products with links to the sub-pages. And I will have Shopping and Fun Stuff pages too. This is to intentionally break the linear page layout, create a mild hierarchy. Will improve search engine rankings as well increase content richness. I actually had something like this a few site designs back but my menu system wasn't laid out well so it wasn't effective.

When I originally started working on a Members page, I didn't like how it was thrown together so I pulled it apart into seperate pages, but if I redo it as the Fun Stuff page then that gives someone a Home Page if they want it.

Next I'm going to have to change the colors and header in the forum... no hurry though since nobody seems to use it anyway. I did sign up with 2checkout.com about a month ago, but I don't know if I'm going to go through with that for retail orders becuase of the statistically high occurance of chargebacks vendors experience through them. I am working out a plan with the owner and will be setting up a special section on the site just for wholesalers/vendors, so they can order through the site in bulk at wholesale prices. that's what I'll use 2checkout for since I'm not as worried about chargebacks, I will have more direct communication with those people. I'm probably just going to install a SSL certificate on the site and create a generic storefront for retail orders and Joe will just process them himself.
