OK I'm a newbie here and to webdesign, I'm currently working on the website for my children's School. Which is being kept quite simple as it is the way the want it to be. As this is my first attempt and I am also self taught, please have alook and tell me what you think.

I am aware there are quite a few errors and am using frontpage 2003 to build it. I seem to be having trouble with the fonts, I am veiwing Graphite light ATT but others have been seeing Arial. I do have some computer knowledge I am half way through doing my MSCE, which I started doing after having my 3rd child and needed a change of career from being a Chef. Sorry about rambling just thought I'd intro myself aswell

PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH ME

first off, the user has to have that particular font installed on there computer so i recommend just losing the different text and set it to just plain arial, or you can offer the text for download.

just what particular errors are occuring? im not getting any errors.

I beg to differ, it`s not a bad program to use and I still do, along side others, everyone to their own.

Welcome to our new website please come back soon as there will be lots

of changes happening here over the coming weeks.
IMO not needed.

the second rollover is wrong, alittle more eye candy is needed, but it`s not bad as sites go, well done and good luck.

Thanks for the reply's guys. Thanks I know the second rollover is wrong I have been sick today and decided to have a rest. I'm having weekly meetings with the vice principal at the moment so there will be heaps more added. I feel it's to square( to many straight lines etc) I am trying to figure out how to place every thing at the moment so its not so dull. AH well I'll get there.

You're on your way, looks alot like the first site I had a go at.
I'd love to give you some tips to make things easier but graphic design is not my strong point. The best advice I can give is to keep visiting forums like this and check out what everyone else is doing and pick out the stuff you like.

I'm having a real hard time reading the menu buttons, it looks like the height has been reduced in the img tag.
You could do with a bit more coour perhaps.
And do away with the under construction images.

As for frontpage it's ok while you're still getting your head around the whoe deal....but check the sorce code for your home page and see how much it over codes.

All in all it's not to bad....good luck with it.

Exactly what he said Your navigation buttons were impossible to read for me, and it seemed a little bland.

I'd suggest some color and if its for a childrens school, maybe throw some bright kiddy-colors on it. A childrens school site sounds like a BLAST to make

You seem to be on the right track.But those buttons are a bit buggy. An idea would be to replace them with text links with a rollover affect. If you would like to give it a go just put this between in the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags and adjust the colors to suit. If you want to get rid of the underline change it to none. Hope this helps.

<style>
a:link { color: blue; text-decoration: none; }
a:visited { color: red; text-decoration: none; }
a:hover { color: green; text-decoration: underline; }
</style>

the site could do with a welcome image header instead of standard text - on the mainstream education page u already have a header designed - with logo and photos - i would considered using this as a standard header throughout the site.

stay away from bevel effect in photoshop - and bevel with image boarder a big no

graphic wise i had seriuos trouble with my first site, and i never got it to look good - my advice is to look what the experts are doing - learn from their graphic solutions - www.reactive.com www.dedesign.com www.4pd.com.au - you need to make your site graphically inviting - at the moment it looks outdated and slightly boring

Hi,
Your site is looking good especially since you are new to web design. But I do have some small suggestions:

Your content seems a little spaced out at the moment, perhaps bring it into a table with 750px width this will make it more compatible with all browsers and not so spaced on higher resolutions.

I agree with the others that you should replace your text links with some hyperlinks with css formatting.

I looked at your main stream education page and i would imitate that style (The image that is), just stick the address in the corner where enrolling now is.

Dont use spaces in your webpage name as it comes out as %20 and use only lowercase this is due to some servers changing case when uploading.

Frontpage has a lot of good features and can be used to make some really good looking websites, I reckon you should use that image mentioned earlier as a template and try and make it work. It would be that hard and would look really good.

Good luck
