I'm finding out that the yellow on my site www.hawgbuster.com is driving visitors away. Some people like it, and others are blinded. I'm concluding that it must be the monitor someone has, like my laptop at work shows the yellow really nice, but on others it must be extremely bright and hard to look at.

It was suggested that I use blue and/or green with the yellow. I'm trying to match up what colors I want to incorporate into the site...

The yellow I use is #FFE600, or 255-230-0.

Being such a small part of the spectrum, yellow is hard to play around with... what would be a good tone, similar to the one I already have...

and then I have to match a blue with it... I just don't want to guess, I've see tutorials that explains about the color wheel and how they should go together... I don't know what the rule is though...

I think the yellow is excellent. A very good site. Easy and quick to navigate. All I can think of is orange, a positive colour.

I like your site very much and if I had any interest in fishing I would browse it for products!

Thanks!

FYI!!!

Color has been changed. If you just now read this thread and looked at the site, the site has been updated for a couple of days now with a new colors.

The yellow I was using was #FFE600, it is now using #FFDC00 or 255-220-0. I scanned some of our packing material into an image and inkdropped it, and found out that FFDC00 was actually closer to the company colors... much easier on the eyes, goes well with the blue I picked.

Tranquil, thank you very much for the compliment, I'm getting great responses about the site update, it's taking me 2+ years of trial and error and an exponential learning curve to get this far. Even though you might not have an interest in fishing, tell somebody that does so I can get some orders! Our newest sample kit is small enough to fit in a christmas stocking, so we want Moms to buy these things for their kids! Even though the new site is nice now, I'm still struggling with traffic... not getting very many hits at all...

The new colors look really good. A bass fisherman will appreciate the colors, gee, just look in their tackle box and you know! I have some plastic worms that match your site.

Since your site is for Hawg Busters, the colors can be a lot different than the other type business sites on the web. I think it takes a bass fisherman to be able to appreciate chartreuese, or pumpkin seed, or yellow, etc.

You have a couple of pages that are wider than the rest, http://www.hawgbuster.com/buzzntube.htm and http://www.hawgbuster.com/spinntube.htm. It might be the layout of the pics, but I suggest to you make them uniform with the rest of the site.

Keep pluggin' away (pun intended)!

Dave

Well thanks!

I think the only way the pics on those pages could be pushing the page wider is if

1. You're using 640x480 screen resolution

2. You have a different browser that's laying out my tables differently

hmm...

I looked at the site with 800x600 resolution using IE and Opera. Anyone else see a difference with those 2 pages?

Hmm... I guess I'll have to check that when I get home. Is it screwed up? I'm not too worried though, since out of like 4000 visitors I've gotten 1 visitor using Opera, in fact that might have been me.
