I launched my new site today http://www.genxtalks.com/. I had been wanting a new site idea since long, and it finally struck me to make this site. I agree it is not a unique idea, but in entirety it's rare.

Reviews, criticism, advice, ideas, tips are required!

PS: The edit link does not work as yet(It came as an idea just a few moments ago.).

Maybe your FAQ section should have a consistent theme to that of your website.

I think you have chosen a wrong look and feel. It's too dark. You need something that feels vibrant and excitement. Yahoo answer website is a good example.

I agree with Websam, you are promoting a new idea so you want your website to look fresh with catchy design and graphics. You need a 1-line lead in under "learn and earn" that grabs attention.

It's really dark, I would do something about that.

The top menu is also HUGE. I would advice you to make that one smaller.

The headings are also huge, The text under it is on it's turn way to small.

The line height of the links under top questions is pretty big as well...

The rest of the site's behaviour however is nicely done. I love the lightbox like popup for a login screen. But please fix the background for the close image. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the popup.

It does look a bit dark, but it's not that bad. You should try to have a white background instead of the black background because it makes it look more inviting and easier to read.

1. I wouldn't use the freebie template.
2. The idea isn't unique (I did see you mentioned it in your post).
3. You would need to target highly specialized questions. People aren't going to pay to see answers to "What kind of music do you listen to?".

Are you doing something like expert exchange?

i am collecting money to get a custom design made...

And people don't need to pay to see answers... They only get an petty amount deducted from the $5 they get in their accounts at registration.

And Note to all!!! i have put up a new design. The black header will be gone soon enuf(i have hired a designer to make a me a good custom thing)...

I think the header section seriously lacks something. It needs some urgent improvements. The logo is not impressive at all. You have to make it more attractive as far as possible.
