Hello from a newbie! I've just finished my first website for an actual company (I've got 4 personal sites, but I've never been "hired" to create one). I had a 2 month time limit while working on it outside work, so it's relatively simple. I'm a graphic designer and have limited knowledge on all the customer related (and many technical related) aspects of web design, so I'd appreciate your comments.

Looks very nice, you're obviously a graphic designer

However, the buttons down the left hand side do look a little jaggy at the top. I'd take another look there.. Also, there seems to be alot of open 'white' space. This could have been on purpose, but personally I feel that it was not your aim.

In general it is a very nice site. Just needs a little tweaking.

If I can be honest I dont like it, it looks a little tacky and I cant read the main writing on the index page. The buttons are too jaggy as said above and it doesnt seem to have a ery good structure. Some of your graphics are very good whilst others seem neglected.

Godo luck

I have to agree with the buttons down the left site, and I also think that there is too much white space between the header and the body content and navigation menu. I like the graphics, however I think the text on the home page is very hard to read and not very user friendly.
Navigation is friendly and subpages are clean and consistent!
Good Luck :-)

Hello Sherica!

It's very good work for a first, congratulations!

I have a few technical suggestions, though:

1. Use html text instead of an image that displays text. This is mainly for search engine crawlers. You can still implement the excellent-looking Mama Lee's logo and the borders by using an HTML table

2. Use "Hot Chocolate @ Mama Lee's Gourmet" instead of "Mama Lees gourmet Hot Chocolate" as Search Engines weigh much more importance to the first few words of a title than the following words.

3. Test the website in 800x600 screen resolution and remove the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom if you can.

You've got very good talent in graphics design. I suggest you master the HTML and search engine optimization side of the coin as well I think you'll make an excellent web designer.

That's all!

I like white space but I think that you have a little too much. The header and the navigation seem to just hang out there, it needs something to bring it all together (frame it). The longer pages such as retailers, when you get mid way down the page it's just text there is nothing that lets you know you are still in the same site. You may also want to try some other fonts to see how they come up.
Having said all that it's a reasonable first attempt.

I like it, but as said before, the main text is tough on the eyes, and the links are a bit jagged... I would also suggest making the whole thing a bit less contrasting ... its overwhelmingly white... and then SHARP purple.

It's a nice site for more classical people, but if you want to get the latest opinion of websurfers, they'll prefer different colors. But try out this layout for a while, and if you don't see much responses, modify the page elements to make it more professional and use less cursive fonts

Just my 2c, but nice site!

Cheers,
Anand

You have done a gr8 job because it was done for first time....now the time to improve your site in next attempt...just change the font style and size also...make them readable....
see you are graphics designer..then just review other graphics designer's site....learn from them......add some attractive images...flash...html...which make your site very attractive and good looking.....just go to next step...change it...and again ask for suggestions......

You did much better than my first site, congrats!

To just make some suggestions:

1. The text is VERY hard for me to read. I am using 1024x786 resolution and I still have to squint.
2. The links on the left look pixelated, not smooth.
3. I LOVE the header, purple/gold and curvy, but I don't like the rotating logo. I would make the logo static and the biz tag line smaller.
4. I find the gap between the header and the content to be a tad far apart.
5. The toll free number thing seems to be off center to me.
6. I find I have to scroll a lot, even with my higher screen resolution.

Good base to start with!

I found your index page nearly impossible to read if you want a fancy ish font why not try bradley hand or similar maybe Kirsten they are both a bit curly but quite easy to read. Good luck

VERY NICE!!!!!! But there's one problem. The curvues too cursuve. Too fancy. Tough to read. A computer isn't a peice of paper. You can still keep it cursove though. Besides that it looks pretty good. Nice animation and everything!!! I noticed that the text is actully a picture. Cleaver. Too bad it looks too cursove.
