Hi afraid our site is going to need a lot of work:
1. Dont like enter site pictures
2. Your main page is too wide make sure it fits on 800px without scrolling
3. It is a bit plain and lacks content at the moment
4. You need more pictures

Well this should give you a start, dont be discouraged we all started like this.

POPUPS..GGrrrrrr

The splash screen is abit creepy...lol, I would make the whole picture into black and white, this way it will blend the images in better.

Now I hit the site and felt let down, you needs graphic captions, a header matching in with the splash screen, site content, not much there at the moment, Good luck.

The forum looks good

I'd remove the splash (main) page if I were you, and use those pictures for a header on the second page. Splash pages only slow down visitors and search engine crawlers

I understand that you are new at this and the only way to learn is by having a go and getting some feedback so i'll try to be helpful.
I like the images on the splash page i think that you get an instant idea of what the site will be about, but I don't like splash pages especialy if I have to go thru them every time I go to a site. Think about your visitors that may have dial-up.
Get rid of the pop-ups, most browsers block them now anyway.
It looks to me like you are trying to build your site by getting a layout then adding your content. Try going the other way, get most of your content together this will help settle on the differant sections for your site also help you to understand the overall feel of the site, then get a logo sorted and build form there.
You'll find it much easier when you have something to put into the pages and you will be able to get some constructive feedback.

Napolion wasent a murderer, he made a mistake costing people there lives. It was not intencional though even though he was exiled for this mistake!

Napoleon was a great war hero for his time incase you didnt know that.

topic people, don't critisize his content, just look at the design. Napoleon's war credits is a little off topic.

I think your in the early stages of becoming a HTML guru like I did, but the problem is, HTML is a dying language. Its very functional for simple sites like that, though. May I sugest you check out htmlgoodies.com, its a great site that will teach you everything you need to know about how to make that design great.

archie: the title of this particular forum is "Website Review and Suggestions." i think that the content of someone's site should be criticized/corrected/commented upon just as much as the "design" (as you suggest).

the content IS the topic here. and it influences the "design" of the site - i.e. the picture of napoleon bonaparte, emperor of france, should be removed from the homepage.

try putting hitler on there instead. or maybe george w. bush...

Would have to agree on the pop ups, grrrrrrr. Also I dont like enter sites either its just another step for your users to do to see your site. Can you move your front enter page to be a logo on all of your other pages? I am not real fond of black pages and white text but I guess it seems appropriate for a mass murderer site.

Well I am guessing you are young therefore as its your first try its good but not good enough for everday visiting. Try experimenting with scripts and dreamweaver.

God these threads make me think back to when I didnt know how to use a script and that was only 10 months ago and now I feel so happy that I can do so much

Hiya Andy, just wanted to say I really like the flash nav on your site!, (hope its ok to stick this in here!)...I know its someone elses review?...

OH!, Ok, I can do two things at once!...

Re MassMurders, ok...Ive built several sites like this in the past too, learning is great fun!...
1. Pop Ups in the FIRST page, I hate, I can "cope" with them for webmaster site survival on some innner pages.
2. Splash screen, ok, I can see why you wanted this, you have obviously spent some time blending your images, and it would be a shame to try and condense them to fit a "normal" page, AND sometimes, a "lead in" gives the user the opportunity to glance and move away...so, jury is still out for me on this page! I do find it slow to load tho!
4. If you MUST have a splash screen, make it so the user DOESNT have to scroll ANYWHERE, dropping the dimensions of your image by 30pixels should do it.
5. Sorry, but I would LOOSE the red border, it did make me tense my shoulders, there is more to do with black pages! (have a peek at www.frankspants.com) one I made earlier!
6. Although your text links in here load faster, Id probably be thinking about structuring the layout and incorporating graphics by now. Go and look at other similar sites, to see what theyve done.

Good start, needs work, but theres always time for that!...

But you need to work on

---Try something to make the background less plain. That should be a high priority. Try http://grsites.com/textures/ you're bound to find a texture there.

---Do something to make the text look diffrent

---Need more features. Try to find more to put on the site. Even if all you can put is page under construction.

Other than all that. It's a good site that just needs to spice up in almost any way. Simplicity gose a LONG way!!!

I tend to agree with most other re the flash enter I usally leave without entering as I find them annoying. The pics are great thou and probably should be on a different page.

Hey i'm new here, but for comments towards you site: maybe more content, more images, something flashier. It almost seems like one giant red table. Try to put some graphics in some tables, or some other content to spice it up.
