Hi

I'm more of a project manager than a web developer but I'm an enthusiast for all things web and design based.

This is my website that advertises the web and design services that I offer.

www.remotestudios.com

It's all relatively low level stuff but some advice on the sort of things I should be looking to do to improve it and my basic knowledge of web development would be much appreciated.

I tend to work on a lot of artists projects rather than traditional corporate style stuff so that might be worth bearing in mind when you make your judgments.

I promise not to complain about any criticism!

Cheers

This site is great!! I might be biased though as I like most anything retro. Since you posted for constructive criticism I racked my brain trying to come up with some and the only think I came up with is the menu font is a little too small in 1024 res. Outside of that great color scheme and graphics, your site is actually fun to look at.

I looked at your other sites and I'd say the same think about the menu font size but overall I liked everything I saw. Neat little menu on the static site.

I'd rate it 9, Great work!

It looks very nice from the view of end-user. But I recommend you add a doc type to your source page:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
And then, why not add all javascript to a single .js file so that the search engine bot can easy index your pages?

Nice look. I'm a big fan of your websites layout and graphical design. It's very cool. One thing is your menu font size (really tiny and hard to spot at first) and the links on your website. I'm not sure what a link is and isn't because all the words and graphics blend in so well together. Those are only 'nitpicking' stuff though.

nice design. just that in 1024x768 resolution the navigation very small, and you have the space to increase the size, so it shouldn't be too hard to fix, and this will help make the site more accessible.
i'm sorry, feedback is very helpful to me, and i hope you appreciate it as much as i do.
it would also be interesting to see the site in css instead of tables..that's just something to keep you challenged, especially if you know wat css can do.
nice portfolio.

I saw many sites which is related with web design..web development...related web business...have some thing inside which will attract the viewer and convert viewers into customers.....BUT your site is very antic site...I ever found on the net...because it is completely mismatch with your business...see it's lay out is very odd looking....
I really do not like your layout and color combination....this is my own suggestions...
Please change the colour combination...font size....add some more and attractive images....related with your business theme....
Overall change the whole lay out of your site if you really want to convert the viewers into customers....

Positive points of your site are...very well managed contents ......very fast in download from internet...really positive point for web business related site...because most of the site which is related with the web business are very slow in downloading....

I love your site and cannot see any improvements that needs to be done. I like the "old" style. As my son would say "It is very funky"

Not a bad looking site, I find that the menu buttons are very small though, I like the flashing R, nice job.

Hi all

Thanks for all the comments - positive and negative!

Im really glad that everyone in the main likes of the look of it. I really wanted to make something original looking and just give anyone who sees it the impression that I'm a genuinely creative person rather than your more traditional developer type.

As you can see though from the links on my 'website' page, a lot of the work I've done is pretty regular looking stuff.

I totally agree with everyone who mentioned that the navigation buttons are too small - I just got too involved with the aesthetics of the proportions there and ignored the practicalites of actually finding your way around the thing.

Finally a quick note to Rashesh... ( "it is completely mismatch with your business...see it's lay out is very odd looking...." )

Your quite right in that if anyone's looking to to pick up regular/traditional design work they shouldn't make a site that looks like this.

You're obviously presuming though that I'm trying to attract the kind of potential customers to my site that you're trying to attract to yours - I'm not!

Thanks

Yeah, i visited the site and also pretty much agree on what you said. I personally don't like retro things but for some reason your site seemed very attractive to me , maybe because of the modern typed woodish back ground.

I do think that the fonts for the top menu are too small , but again i am running a 1024 resolutions so they maybe perfect on an 800.

Overall your site is clean, neat and most importantly unique. I can see it being a success.

8/10

I think you are right...it is depending on person to person and perception to perception of the person....

I like those sites which are very attractive and having bright colours, sharp & attractive images and with professional UI design style....so that is the reason for disliking your site from my point of view...........

As you mentioned that you are targeting potential customers...then please consider the age factor of those potential customers, the living environment of those potential customers, which will definitely help you in getting good business......

Best of luck.....

Can you review our site and can you comment on that?

Thanks for coming back with some more comments.

I take everything on board that you have said.

I think that the problem for anybody building a website is that they're always going to
appeal to some groups of people and not others, and even making something that occupies a 'middle ground' will be criticised in some quarters for being bland!

Had a look over your site and and I think it looks great and I'm sure that behind the scenes it's technically well produced. My only criticism would be that all the pages look viually very similar (if not the same) and it's only the text content that changes in the main.

I do know for a fact though that the type of clients that I'm trying to appeal to would look on it as being very 'corporate' (appealing to a certain type of generally big business who are not particularly interested in being original or inventive) and very similar in look and feel to the sites of your direct competitors. Some people of course will be reasured by the obvious levels of profesionalism involved in its production.

There's certainly lots of scope for variety withing web production though and it certainly would be a very dull world if we all shared the same sense of style and identity.

Thanks

I really liked it. It looks great in Mozilla (my primary browser) and IE. I enjoyed your retro style. You did an amazing job of breaking down your information into easily digestible chunks.

Overall this is a really good site easy to navigate and quick load times even with many images.

Good job

Hey Wow...great site. There's a bit of creativity I haven't seen in a while. Love the retro look. Seems like you have plenty of HTML keywords in there for some good marketing too.
