I am building a artist/artwork website and I need some feedback. www.localbuiltinc.com I am building it mostly in flash and inserting it into HTML via dreamweaver. I need some feedback and wonder if anyone has a better idea for functionality. I keep having problems with tables is dreamweaver for inserting text and alignment of images . Would Javascripting Fix such problems? not all content is complete but main navigation should be fine.

Oh ya, Load time is also important for the amount of content. Does anyone have problems viewing in flash? Dont mind the other pages as they are not fully optimized

Load time is ok. It's fast enough.
Keep in mind: Altho Flash looks great it can be a problem for searchEngines.

Really nice site, especially for the content you have on it.
I'm on fast cable modem, but the overall loading was a little slower than most sites. A lot of graphics and Flash, so I'm not surprised the loading was slower. Are all the graphics optimized for the web?
Some of the italic text is a little hard to read. Maybe eliminate the italics, or increase the line-height.
Really the red animation that plays on the link hover. Nice touch!

Actually you can optimize flash to be more SEO friendly now. However it is by no means the best approach if you are looking to rank high for certain keywords.
A few more tips for you. Maybe only have limited flash if you are worried about SEO. I did not realize the entire site was in flash.
Also the site does not center correctly for me. Sure I see the stuff to the left of it. However the professional way is to center the content not the graphic part of it.
As for loading times. You need to include a preloader to that when the site loads up it does not look like there is a bunch of white empty space. At a glance someone could very well open your site see the white empty space and just close out NOT KNOWING flash is loading!

Ya, its not 100% optimized as theirs alot of data I can through away. I will remove the italics, its just that I have a realy good computer monitor next to my crapy one and sometime I forget to look at it in lower resolutions. Thanks for the feed back, thats the stuff I need to know. Oh, another thing is that I notice that google picks up on my text in Flash but not yahoo and so forth.I dont plan to have so much flash but I seem to find it easy to insert flash function then move it into html when I need the SEO. Just a means to an end.

Load time is fina here as well. I agree if you will have no problem getting external visitors to the site, then you should be fine, but if you are going to be relying on search engines then you may want a non-flash version that your online links point to.

It took about 14 seconds to load on my wireless. Text is way too small, and the script font is hard to read.
It forces me to readjust my browser to fit the width, which i dislike.

I am not much of an artist but I thought is was normal practice to make sure you home page fits on one window, I would say the width of your home page is greater than 1500 pixels. I also thought you might want a good logo that says what the site is about.

To make the web page fit to the center is an easy fix. I want the webpage to scroll to the right to add more content to fill the screen in larger resolutions monitors. I want this page to be able to be view in even 1920x1080 and so on. I know there is a way to do padding for backgrounds I just added some CSS to fix it and should center in every page.

I just fixed the centering problem an added preloaders for the flash items. Still not optimized though and text needs to be larger. I will deal with these soon but I think it is looking good. Thanks for the great feedback as it is very valuable to have webheads to give you input.

I find the load time slow, although not slow enough to make me leave the site it does need some speeding up. One suggestion is getting rid of the background image, or reducing its quality. Other wise perhaps a better hosting package. My website ( http://xuroq.co.uk) has lots of pictures on, but I reduce the quality of them and have a good hosting package. Apart for that and perhaps slightly cramped, the site is a nice design

Thats about right on the money. There is for sure ways I am going to make it lightning faster.External load swf will do the job and some of the major images are not fully optimized. I finallt worked with the CSS to get the page to display the way I want. If you look at the site in 1920x1080 or higher it is amazing.

Yes, I did also have an issue viewing it. I finally closed out and didn't bother returning. That's something you never want on your website.

All I can see on most of your pages are black and white boxes with broken images inside of them.
I would highly suggest moving away from designing in Flash.
I would also highly recommend against designing your site to be bigger than most screens just so it can look good on the biggest screen. There are far fewer people with huge screens than there are with normal sized screens, so you're actually inconveniencing more people by making them scroll over to see all the content.
I'll check back in a day or so to see if the pages load at all for me.
Best,

I was actually working it and changing html/ content, it should work now. I removed the content on the pages for other reasons. I am mainly concerned with the home page. I am building it in flash just for some quick function options but I plan to include more html.

It took a while to load, but I'm finally there.
I know it's not done yet, but you might want to run a spell-checker on it, Dreamweaver's will do. Misspelled words give your website a very unprofessional feel.
I personally think the pictures off to the side in the middle of page makes it look cluttered and messy, look into that?

You shuld use HTML instead of flash. The load time could have been faster.. and your website is a bit messy .. Remember - less is more

I love the content to the site. Load time was a little slower than normal but not enough to make me wanna bounce. I agree with general consensus that some of the font is too small. Other than that it looks great...

Wow, one of the coolest sites I've ever seen. Load time wasn't very good, but it was almost worth it.
the only thing i would say is that the white text is too small to read. Should I guess that you have a very large monitor since you do design? I have a 19 in monitor set to 1440x900 and have never had trouble reading text before. Part of it is the white text on black background. I am a fan of small text, mind you...nothing says amateur to me like HUGE FONTS. But this is way too small in my opinion.
