Hello everyone,
I just found this site and figured I would join. I am in the proccess of building a site for a my mother;s boyfriend who restores wooden boats. The site is still "under construction" but is functional. I hope to add more content and some pictures soon. Can you take a peek and let me know what you think and feel free to offer any suggestions. the site is www.webnow.com/awbw
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely
Toby Bibeau

Welcome to the forums Toby! Great to have you with us.

I few IMOs about your site:

Appearance Colors

Fonts:
I would make the font under "Welcome" one notch larger. As well, I would move the "Website was modified on 4/14/02 at 5:50 PM" to the bottom of a page under a copyright notice.

Graphics, Logos, Layout, Backgrounds:
The side navigation bar/backround needs to expand longer IMO. If you add more links and just a pic or something under the links, this might help. I would have it go down to the bottom of the page before you have to scroll maybe.

ah, what the heck. I hope you don't mind this, but I did a little redesign of your homepage without the frames. And the left nav needs to be fixed. New bullest would need to be added. Just an example. You will probably like yours better. Arg, plus the top backround won't show for some reason... I'll get back to this
Here is link I started playing with Test.htm

Overall, not a bad start!

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I do not have the options to ajust the navigation bar size at the left of the site, it will expand a bit when other option become availible. I will talk to my mom's boyfriend about moving the "modied notice". I realize wooden boats are probably not your expertise, but I would like to ask what you think of the content itself. As this site was setup on a templated service I do not have much options on different layouts like the test page you created.

Thank again

Toby

Hi Toby,

Welcome to the forums! Looks like a good start on your web site. Here's a couple of suggestions that you might consider, and of course, they are IMO's.

In your description of the shop, you called it "small". It might actually be small in dimensions, or only have a few workers.... but sometimes "small" gives a negative connotation. Of course, if that is a direct quote, you might not want to change it.

If possible, I would move the "modified notice" down to the bottom of the page.

The content seems to be a good start for the site. The About page has a double "over" in the second sentence.

I hope that helps. You'll want to submit the site again for a review when it's completed.

Hey guys,
I have recently done some site edits. As suggested I moved the modified notice to the bottom of the page. I have also started adding links and photos. Although I am soon going to have to deem the projects page "dead" - it is a custom page and I was hoping to create a unique page w/ photos but cant due to issues with the service not accepting front page 2002 creations.
I am looking to add a FAQ's page soon, and possbly some other pages. I have recently added a few photos on to the photos page, more to come soon. Also recently added was a "guest book" page.

Thanks for all your assistance
Toby B.

Keep up the good work, Toby. I think the changes and additions have been a plus!

By the way, if you have a question about coding, you can ask it in the coding forum here. I'm sure someone will jump in and try to help you solve it.
