ive done some minor changes and the site will be changing all this week.

examples: the news at the bottom looks amateurish for me, so im going to put the news in a table to the left and add articles and import coverage.

on the right im adding new pictures that i update daily and advertisements

there will be now bottom banners

I remade the menu and made it same color as background

I am now in the process of adding wallpapers and making the galleries and import galleries

everything should be expected by Friday, totally completed.

http://www.ghettocars.cjb.net

well...so far...tell me what you think?

Basically I think the site needs a little work and a lot of love..the site just doesn't seem to come together. Its a cool concept tho.

By the way, I know those popups come with the host..try setting up a popup killer script or something to get rid of them.

I am not sure exactly what you changed but I think the logo looks a bit cheap with that standard lens flare. Also as mentioned in a previous review I would add some padding to the tables of your side menus. I can go on but it seems as though you ignored the last review that ppl did on this site. I would go back to that last review and start working there.

after some research, i found your post

Neatness/Professionalism:
I first noticed there is not title but I guess you'll be adding that when you put it into working order The {{}{{ stuff looks very ameteurish. I remember when I did it once. I thought it looked cool at the time but now I can't beleive I thought it was so cool cuz it does not look good.
Another version of this is the <--------------> thing. I think people should just put in a <hr> or an image and get on with it.
Yet another is the .: :. thing about half way down the page. I have seen a couple sites where it looks good but in general looks like crapo. Anyways I do like how neat the side navigation looks compared to how it was before.

Design:
My first impression was that the car at the top is way to far to the left. Use padding. Things don't have to be lined up absolutely to the complete left. This also happens in the titles on your navigation titles ("Navigation, Stuff, Cars, Exotik, ...ect") where you have no padding on the inside of the cells. Look at any site like hotmail or even webmaster-talk and notice how there is ample space between the text and the border surrounding it. It makes the site look less cluttered and easier for reading.
I like the side navigation except for how you have one labled "Navigation". Why not just move the rest of the column up and eliminate the "Navigation" box. When I first clicked on the navigation I thought it would take me to another page but instead it just when to an anchor. It took me several seconds that I had to look on the side navigation to find what I was looking for. It just adds an unneccisary step that might cause users to get fed up and leave.

Colors:
I like blue but I do get a sorta blue overkill hear on this one. I am not sure what you might want to do but maybe you could soften up a color or two because they all seem very bright.

Ok I know I have been harsh and I bet I seem like an asswhole but I think you have made a huge step and improved greatly. The purpose of my suggestions are so that you can keep moving and improve even more. I know I always hated a harsh review on my site but in the end they really did help me and just remember... pretty soon you get to be the guy who seems like an asswhole
Keep up the hard work.
-dk
you have great tips there and if you really have more to say then i am open to suggestions, imma add the padding on today and fix the logo a bit (take off lense flare or move it) I also got rid of something on the site but still need to get rid of the <----> thing and stuff.

id say give me about 1-2 days and i will change on what you commented

thanks a lot dk.

I upated it yet again with all the changes mentioned by dk and the rest. mostly dk though, hes the picky one

I added the <hr> tag instead of <-----> i made a new logo and took off that lens flare effect and just added a new one that makes the car look like it has Xenon super white lights.

I made a banner for my site and just put it there for no reason, I added the side and bottom banners.

I added "real" news, instead of that stupid "ghettocars is being updated" crap. Now i have import coverage on the shows which i have listed there. I also am writing articles on the shows and taking pics with import models to go along with it.
I seem to have friends that go to these shows, I can only go to the miami ones

I also updated the pic of the day! and I made the NAV menu look slightly different, whoever notices gets a prize! lol

so review it, tell me what you think. Go ahead all your replyes are welcome. please be as harsh as you can

if you give me a bad review though ill whack you with a stick (i spent long on this one )

-Josh

i think i use too many smilies

Ok time for my review on ghettocars, so get ready

I am doing this review on the main page, I think its homee.html?

Pros:
The layout looks nice.
Nice color scheme.
Good content.

Cons:
Ghettocars text in the logo is too small.
The background color in the logo is different from that of the pages.
When you hover over the link "GhettoCars - exoticks . imports . hot models . wallpapers", it turns invisible.

The last thing is the navigational menu. I think the little bars in the navigational menu should not go to the left of the navigational sections titles. The links and main titles probably would look better in bold, and I'd turn off a:visited in your css for those links. The yellow looks kinda bad. Anyways, I dont really think the double colon approach works for a car site, I'd make little fancy images with the sections title on them. For example... instead of "::GhettoCars::", you would have a little image that just says GhettoCars. I just think it would look more professional.

Anyways good job with the site, gl in completing it

I hope you dont take offense to my post, especially since I am just a new-comer here

I hope my opinions help

thanks apaoli for your review, i appreciate it
imma see what other people think about your cons and ill try to meet your demands

As for the background color being different in other pages, its because i just wanted that pages review, not the other ones, i havent added the template on to the other pages.

and as for the link "disappearing" thats because my mouseover is set to #000080 and the background color happens to be navy blue (000080). thats why it happens.

well thanks again for your review, and keep em coming

ok sure Adam, thanks, yea I realize the background is not the same as the page thats because of lens effect I believe.

Im just waiting to see what dk says, hes the pickiest so I listen to him the most.

either way, I took your stuff into consideration Adam, im making some slight changes.

Can't get to the site at the moment either, I'll check back later.

Why not take a look at:
http://www.free-webhosting.info
and find yourself a new host.

It's not listed, but www.hey.nu is supposed to be excellent...

Just managed to get on.

I like the design, nice colours and layout.

The lighting effect on the logo is good, but I don't like the font or the colour for the Ghettocars text. Doesn't seem to fit in with the site. Also the background is a different colour (been mentioned before I think).

The navigation bothered me a bit, for a number of reasons:
  1. Why have you got your partner sites listed at the top? People look at the top links on the nav bar first, so they are likely to leave your site as soon as they get there!
  2. The whole bar seems a bit too long. Maybe you could have simple links to 'Cars', 'Imports' etc. then in those sections either have an expanded version of that section of the nav bar. You could even put in some sort of DHTML pop out/up menu.
  3. The :: on either side of GhettoCars in the first heading looks a bit out of place.
I assume you know the pic of the day isn't working. I'm usure about the size of it, though. There is no text above the fold on my browser screen because of the space the picture will take up. I suppose as the visitors have come to see the pictures, its OK, but maybe you could make it a little smaller or put a short info above.

Sorry to sound critical, but I've really skipped over the good bits and concerntrated on the bits I don't like, so although this post seems all negative, I really do quite like the site.

Thanks David!, as mentioned before I realize the background is not the same as the page thats because of lens effect I believe.

As for the ::GhettoCars:: menu having carsites.com and stuff, thats just a way for me to get cheap traffic now, soon id probably set that at the bottom.
That is the voting part of ghettocars. But thats just for the beginning, I am planning to put it at the bottom or take it off.

As for a pop-up menu or some sort of fancy menu system, ive tried that and quite hate the fact that ive changed menus like 700 times. Imma just keep that one.

Ill take into consideration the stuff you said on my menu and ill change a few things and post here when im done

as for pic of the day, yes it isnt working and the size is too big, imma stick to other pics.

thanks for the review david
