Beta 1 of Web Shop needs reviewing please

hi All,
I am in the (semi) final stages of testing my new web shop at
http://www.uk-computers.co.uk

The shop is based on a system called Evolve , which , is to be honest a bit antiquated. In Addition - its a bit of a pig to do even the slightest design change!

There are still a number of design flaws that need to be sorted out and the CSS has been inherited from the origional template so is a bit sloppy in places - but at 2 1/2 Thousand lines - i didnt fancy rewriting it or streamlining it much! I have made some changes recently and will ber doing later.

What i would like anyone kind enough to do, is give me a general impression of the overall design and HCI (Ease of Use) please.
The store is not live yet and won't be for a month or so.
It will be a b2b site (not really home user) and takes feeds from the major IT distributors.
It's quite a complex animal and i am aware of a number of broken links and what not , as I am currently working on the presentation layer.
It's just me doing it and it seems to be taking forever.

One more thing - I have noticed slow load times - do any of you get that as well?
This seems to be the first page - then everything is ok after that.

The load time does not seem too bad to me, however there is a small delay with some of the images.
For me the site lacks a little color. I would like to see the top logo sat on some sort of background.
The links and the search bar don't quite seem to fit, why not highlight the current page like the home page link is and make it "feel" like a tab with it "joining" with the search block.
Why have you used 2 different fonts for the site navigation(top and left), I think consistency will give the site a better feel.

I like the general layout of the site with easy to find products and uncluttered style.

Has a good feel and should do well when it is finished.
