Hi I recently built a website for my cousin all in flash. It's nothing too special but just wondering if it does ok for its purpose. http://www.kylebasilephotography.com

Here are my review -

+ Long domain name and any spelling mistake in typing you will lost your visitor.
+ Girl in Bikini on front page. Many people wont able to open this one with their family members
+ Try to add some more contain. This one is really looking empty and less impressive.

The design is pretty simple. If people are surfing and comparing photographers, yours risk not standing out, even though it's clean.

And there's no need to use Flash given the current state of it. You'd be better off with plain HTML pages, for a few reasons:
- Better for search engines indexing your site.
- Someone may come back to any page he wants, bookmark any page, instead of having to go back through the whole interface (say he wants to bookmark a picture).
- You load only the content you need. (for some reason Firefox tells me your siteswf.swf is 6MB large, but this doesn't seem to make sense).

Takes an age to load.
There is nothing to make it stand out from rest, and for a photography site the examples shown are not exactly groundbreaking. Also if you look at most sites showcasing photography you will find that the photographer tries to show his versatility by featuring different aspects of their work.
I would like to see the menu in a larger font, especially as you have used a fixed size and the user has no way of varying this to suit his/her needs.
I would agree with all that fsav said about the use of flash, it appears to be one of those sites that has used it just because you can and not to add value to the site.

Why did you use flash for this design?
When I think of flash I think of interaction, animation, etc.
You just have static pages that could be easily achieved with basic HTML markup and maybe some CSS for styling and positioning.

I would recommend visiting some good fashion photographers websites to get some idea of the market you are trying to venture into. This one is too basic. If you need help send me a PM and I can try something out for you.

Add some information about your business on the front page, instead of using bikini pic of the girl, put something more attractive pic so that your visitors can stay on the site, make a layout and put some contrast background color, so that the layout should appear more. I hope this makes a sense.

Best Wishes,

From a design point of view this is very bland. Needs more of everything and needs to be bigger!

Also its seo unfriendly.

I've seen your competition and with this website I don't see much success. You really need to capture the true essence of photograpy & build your website around this. A creative & professional website will reflect your work, I Don't see this here. Study your competition and if you truly want to be a success you must surpass or match them before anyone will take you serious. But it can be done and really isnt that difficult so keep your head up and if this is what you really want it will come together.

I'm also a photographer .. we had more leads when we simplified our online price list. I would recommend not showing prices for all paper types .. show the cheapest and just display the print size (not paper type) most clients wont know the difference anyway. Make it simple and dont overwhelm them .. you want them to become interested and as soon as they are you want them to make the phone call .. not spend forever on your site figuring out prices
