what do i need to do to my blog, to make people want to REVISIT and stay active?

i like the colors.. team colors but whats some things i shoulddo to make it real neat and make people come back...

On the home page instead of going staright in to the blog explain what the site is for and why people should blog.

Encourage the use of the forum and interaction between members. Trips out to games, amateur teams and matches, buy, sell, trade or swap section, members advertise their business, etc.

Add a games page where members can play sport related games, quizes,

In the blog part could you have sort options so that someone going on the site could sort the blogs by: poster, date posted, subject, no. of views, no. of replies?

I would look at other sporsts forums especilayy their stickys and see how those questions relate to your site and subject anc copy the best!

should i just link exchange with any sites?..

for the activity, encourage users to post comments by asking them questions in the end of each post. also, on your forum add a link to the blog, cause right now its one way street to the forum, but not back.

I think your colours (sorry i'm from the uk) are ok im not excited about them however since they are team colours you have to go with it, the site design looks corporate and professional which can be a good and bad thing depending on your target audience, my personal feeling to blogs is people want to relax after work or when they wake up and visit the blog so they don't want to see a corporate style but want to see a friendly one, so like the mascot you could maybe change the design to be a more friendlier style.

Back on topic, you said how do you get people coming back for more, well content is king some people say so keep the content good and refreshed then they will come back for more, its kindoff like food keep the person hungry for the content they will keep coming back if the food tastes nice, if you get what i mean

Good design, great content but not a suitable team selection (just kidding)
arrange to give gifts such as posters , game schedules,games,... to your loyal visitors and then you can advertise your web site on real team matches where all of your potential visitors are there . start some betting matches for free with some gifts
and I think your niche is not good at all for money making

Colours are not very important factor that's right that good graphics should attract visitors but don't make too much just post some useful posting on your blog then you don't have to do much more it will increase your visitors.
