Please review my portfolio design. I'm aware that it may have IE issues (I hate IE so much...) so if anybody's got any CSS tips to fix that, that'd be awesome.

I like it. Clean simple design. I didn't take a look at the code, but a quick look at the site in IE and I'm thinking it an issue with margins and paddings. Might be a case of letting defaults be in charge and setting things explicitly will have both looking the same.

One thing I'd do with the design though is I'd make the graphics next to the menu links change color on hover. Not necessary, but something I think adds to the usability.

I like it too. I like your colors and the layout. I like how the links on the right stay there, and the content changes on the left. You've given me some things to think about (in relation to my website, for which I've also asked for a review). I like your links and how they are the same color as the text and become underlined when you hover on them.

I hate to say this but if you are going to sell yourself as a designer, I would expect more from the design of your site. It looks too basic. Look at other good designers and their sites. The beauty of the web is nothing is final, like in print. You can always keep on working to improve.

li{
list-style-image: url(images/myBullet.jpg);
}

or else use this..

li{
list-style:none;
background:url(images/myBullet.jpg) left no-repeat;
padding-left:30px;
}

try it..maybe this will work for you..

I'm just not sure what some people mean by "more." I'm always going for an attractive design that brings everything together as required. And I hate flash...

I need a spot for content: good to go. I need attractive, usable navigation. Good to go. I add a little flair to the charities advertisement and pull it together with a nice separation between logo and content.

What "more" do you believe that I need for a small website with a small collection of content? I want to go for clean and professional, and I think I've achieved that but if you have suggestions, spit them at me. (And don't ever hate to say your opinion! The internet is for free speech, kind of!)

@momon

I dunno, IE just does weird things to my designs. I might try it your way just so that the bullets and text are evened out a bit more.

I don't like the logo at the top. Well not the logo, the positioning of it rather. It's overlapping header line thing (Don't really know what to call it). I think that you could keep these two separated. I'm sure this was intentional, as I've seen this around, hoverer it doesn't really seem to fit.

Everything else seems pretty simple and clean! Great work on the design. Not much to comment on . That logo thing just really caught my eyes.

One other thing worth mentioning would be your "About the Designer" page. I get quite of bit of "". Try fixing that up. Did you export the text from Micrsoft Word or osemthing? I know that's what causes it to happen on MY pages.

Overall it is nice but there are a few things I would change. Here is my list...

1. Fix positioning of text and image on the right hand navigation.
2. Add hover effects to the images of that same navigation.
3. Make padding on both sides of the little orange box the same (it is several pixels from the left side and goes right up next to the right side).
4. Add justification to your content text - it adds a very professional touch.

Other than those small issues, very nice design. Good luck - John

It's supposed to overlap. I positioned it like that. Yeah, it's not supposed to have the question mark things. I'll fix that up.

Edit: I swear I JUST talked to that webstore guy...way to thread hijack, by the way. You don't wanna know what I think of your site...also, if there's no problem in IE than awesome.
