I am very new to website design and development. I taught myself both Dreamweaver and Photoshop and while I think I am relatively proficient, I would love to get feedback from more seasoned and knowledgeable web designers.

My website is
www.tilemasterga.com
Please check it out and please let me know your thoughts including any ideas on how I can improve it.

thanks - michael

You're new, so I'm going to tack on all of these previous stated ideas, and move on with the actual review.

First Impression

"I spy flash...lots of flash."

Design

Don't think that by using css you can hide those tables from us! The time of tables is over (unless it's a forum, which generally do?) for websites. Let CSS reign! It feels very disjointed. You've got stuff floating, and images breaking borders, and odd border stylings...pick an idea and apply it. If you're gonna use 5 ideas, they should be related, or you can make five different websites!

Also, careful about floating text on the top-left. The elements in each sidebar feel like they should be links, but aren't. Is there a better way of displaying that than just regular lists? also, hello random gradient in the left sidebar...are you lost? The idea you have for the actual navigation is kind of cool, if it would load...

Oh and...give the name it's own block. It looks like "Tile Mas" right now. The logo could use some love too.

Content

Your typography feels all over the place! Why are the lists bigger than the paragraph text? Also, why use italics if you're not emphasizing anything. Also, watch your grammar:

Quote:
Tile Master is a full-service flooring professional that specializes in bath remodel and custom installation of...
Is Tile Master the company? Or you? Or what? Then the second part (after specializes) is kind of wanky. "specializes in bath remodeling and custom installation of..."

The bottom gets kind of choppy too.

Quote:
No middle man just one person from start to finish. Reliable, knowledgeable and always appreciative of every client. If needed, will help with choosing the design and right material to execute the project. Caters to all customer needs and taste. References furnished upon request. We are fully insured and licenced.......
"No middle man, just one person from start to finish. I'm reliable, knowledgeable, and always appreciative of every client. If needed, help with choosing the design and right materials for the project will be given. I cater to all customer needs and taste. References available upon request. We (I thought it was just one of you?) are/am fully insured and licensed (watch your spelling!) ..."

Would I Use It?

I don't need to remodel my floors....so probably not.

Overall

The design needs some more thought, but I believe in you! The content needs to be edited and gone over, then you can start adding fun effects with flash (...or java...you know...if you wanna be a little kinder to the google spiders, just not too much!) and gradients (hopefully ones that aren't random)

It looks like it 'should' be good with the flash starting, but in the end, it just looks really sloppy. Right side navigation seems strange and it doesn't look like it displays properly in Firefox?. In my opinion the whole thing should be revamped.

I think that the too many images on both side should minimize a little, you should make some adjustment!
