A while ago my site was reviewed and the common response was that I needed to redesign my forum. Well, I have completely redone my whole site, and added a ton new features and everything, so I thought I would once again see if I could get some feedback on my site.

If I gave just my criticisms, here's what they would be (Homepage):
  • Your banner is HUGE, do you you really need it so big?
  • For me, I'd say there's too much activity on the homepage, plus your menu bar only has four sections. Why not add more too it from other sections (like Help, board index, etc.)? It took me a minute or two to find out just how to get to the forum's main index.
  • Some other things on the homepage are also unnecessary IMO are the calendar and clock.
For the Actual Forums page:
  • I'd say there's too many ATM. I know some have activity, but too many can be overwhelming to newcomers. I don't want to go about restructuring forums (because I have a tendency to enjoy doing that ) and I don't know whether your for the most part, "satisfied" with how they're currently structured.
  • For example though, do you really need a "Call of Duty 4" Forum on a SSBB board? Or an entire category devoted to "Regions"?
  • Other things people like to have easy access to are pages like members list and forum leaders, to get a feel for who's on the board and who the community consists of.
Other than that, I like the colors, forum descriptions, and overall theme of the board, so Great Job on that part. (I'm also an SSB fan, SSB Melee specifically. Just never got around to purchasing a wii.) So good luck with the forum.

The banner is the only problem. Right is looking right.

Well, everyone on the site seems to like the banner. We took a poll when we created the new banner, asking if everyone like it and wanted to keep it or thought we could try and do better, and 100% of those that voted were in favor of keeping it so we did.

I had been debating about whether or not the index had too many categories, so I did change it up a little bit. I didn't delete most of them, I just took them off the index (such as the individual regions...and oh, they actually are important because the Smash Bros WiFi sucks, and people like to know those that are closest to them to minimize lag). It could probably be reduced a little more, but I just don't see anything I wanted to take off and put somewhere else right now. Hopefully it looks at least a little bit better now.

I'm a little confused what you meant by your second and last point. Most of the things you mentioned can be accessed via the drop down menus from the top of the page, although I did add a help link up there.

As far as the Portal I'm pretty limited as to what I can do, as it is a mod I installed. I didn't create it, and I wouldn't know how to edit it to get what I want. I do like the clock and the calender there. If nothing else just to help try and balance it out a little. I feel like the middle can get too long, and I feel like the sides are very empty. There are other things I would prefer to put there, but as I said above, I don't have the knowledge to do that really.

Thanks you greatly for your input. As always, it is appreciated.

edit: It did just occur to me that links such as the member list I believe are not visible to guests, so that is why I was confused by you suggesting something that appeared to me to be already there. Sorry about that.

Last review of the night, let's make it a good one.

First Impression

"Hello giant banner. I'm extremely tired, can I drift away in your endless sea and sleep?"

Design

The banner is big. The banner is really big. You would just not believe how vastly, hugely, mind-boggling big it is. You think the walk to the chemist is long? It's peanuts to the banner! Okay, I've officially gained +5 to my geekdom, now I'll talk more about your design. You should really consider getting a slimmer header, but kudos, it's clickable. The colors on the sides fit nicely, but the middle is a mess in terms of color matching. Make the content areas lighter (probably as light as the side) or just get rid of the wrapping. Go for the look you've given the poll, which fits in better than your news.

Content

GOOD CTHULU there's a lot of boards! If you have the activity to fill them all, kudos on the management and commitment skills. Otherwise, shrink it down. Reviewing quality of posts would take me forever at this rate, so I'll leave it at possibly considering the idea of consolidating sections down.

Would I Sign Up?

Too many forums. I'm barely keeping up posting on two!

Overall

Work some more on it, and develop everything more. You seem to be at maybe a middle ground, but it has potential for epic success.
