I am using lightbox2; it is based on the jquery in the drupal Content Management Sytem...its not flash.

There are quite a bit of these floating around.....thickbox, shadowbox, mootools etc (google if interested)

You can use javascript/ajax to do quite a bit.

If you have anymore questions, just let me know....Tutorials about this kind of thing would be pretty useful, perhaps a possible part of the site.

Every since I discovered drupal 10 months ago, I have been using third party scripts (GNU license) on my drupal based sites to add extra functionality, however I heavily customize and modify the modules I use when working with drupal. trust me, going through 1,000's of lines of code to customize something to fit your vision is no easy tasks.
My portfolio site alone implements about 40 customized modules. the minisocial network I created had about 76.

To interested parties, I would suggest becoming familiar with some open source CMS. I've had many people contact be solely because I know how to configure drupal site and make customized themes. It gives you great insight into php, javascript, css etc.

I'm familiar with both SMF and Wordpress, and I'm going to begin working with others once my schedule clears up. I would suggest also, reading blogs by freelancers and designers.

Also, we are not resellers. BLD Hosting owns a few servers actually. I really don't want to get into details ... as this IS public.

It is understandable however. After all, what could one expect from a 16 year old .

Thank you for your compliments.
Good Job man that is awesome.

j11t, I really don't like these CMS scripts. I rather like having made my own site from scratch. There are no security issues, I know every inch of the code, and it's just more effective and faster. Instead of stacking it with huge software, I just coded what I need . However it's great that you know the functionalities of such a popular media.

Jacob, thanks for your compliment . +rep

I have to agree, but my coding skills aren't quite as good as yours. (Probably nowhere near, haha.) The ability to work with the back-end and mold it is important, but until I get good enough, I like having the structure of a cms and support to fall back on. Personally, if it can be pulled off, I think the 18- site should be made independently.

I've done plenty of "hand coded" sites. Definitely, a lot easier to set up, from personal experience ...simply because you don't have to learn a system and how to manipulate it to suit your ends. But in the end I think the extra work is worth it.

So far, I only have 4 drupal based websites, this will change soon. Hand coded sites can also have security issues, etc. It comes down to how you set up the configuration, but granted there are advantages to knowing every single line of code.

I love the drupal CMS, it gives you the ability to use only what you need but offers many options so you are not limited. You can also write your own modules etcs, so it pretty much can be what ever you want...if you have the time.

But to each their own. For the things I want to do and the clients I have, it really gives me the power to implement things quickly and effectively. I doubt I would be able to hand code a social network site in a reasonable time for my clients without the cms.

Right now I'm using Drupal on a site for the EthiopianEmbassy(abidjan),(Not available to the public yet still working on it) and the ambassador and staff love the ability to log on an make changes etc without having to rely on me for everything.

This level of intimacy truly allows the client to have exactly what they want in terms of content.

Anyways, I'll get of my little drupal soap box ; its not for everybody.

Do you have an affiliate program for BLD Hosting?

Yep, send me a PM and I'll drop you a link. It may be considered spam if I just post it .

Well, I really didn't code BLD Hosting with a social networking site in mind, so you are correct, it would take some time to accomplish such a task. I'm just saying that something like drupal, or joomla, would be "overkill" for some small tasks.

Yeah! There are quite a few young web designers! I'm 13 and going to be 14 in a few months. I currently have a website up at www.photoshroom.com. It's my very first PHP & MySQL attempt...not the best out there...but still cool. A

Btw, I once knew someone who started all this webmaking when he was only 6!!

Wow that's an early start. What's he doing now?

Concerning your site: Not bad at all, some real potential.
For better readability..you might not want to use Neon green on a white background.

The color changing text takes away from the professionalism of the site, But overall no bad at all. Check out some css inspiration sites.

I'm glad to see that you have changed the footer, since last I saw. Pretty clean site, you did a nice job.

Try making the available plans horizontal instead of vertical, This should allow you to reduce the size of the main image. Try that and see how it looks. I'm thinking for business. have what you offer greet the user quickly, as opposed to a large image. The flash is nice and I'm not saying you should remove, just make sure the focus stays on the services provided.

Overall pretty dang good.

Impressive work for young people. I started when I was 13. Now I am 21. I just get into it from time to time. I haven't played with it in several years, but I am picking it back up.
