I started this a few weeks ago. It's based on the woot.com or steepandcheap.com model where a single heavily discounted item is featured. The difference with this site is it features products from many merchants and is updated hourly with a new product:

HourDeal.com

Obviously, the success of this site is going to depend on site stickiness, branding, etc. as it probably won't do all that well in the search engines. Anyway, in addition to the site design/concept, I would love to get some suggestions on unique ways to promote it as well. Thanks!

Hi:

I like the clean homepage which gets updated hourly. It would be good to have 'categories' in which hourly deals are available and the homepage can have deals for all categories.

History page doesn't have 'individual' deal page and that would mean your site won't have a lot of 'pages' and content on it.

You should probably also include the 'validity period' of the deal. If you allow individual pages/deals to be bookmarked that would get you more 'traffic'

I got only one entry in RSS is that right?

It completely agree with the previous estimation. From myself I wish to add, that it is necessary to work above design and as to check up a HTML code by validator

Hey Greg, just checked out your site, I would suggest adding navigation bar on your site to give visitors idea about your site. And I also suggest to categorize your products.

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, categories would be good, but at this time the only real category is "outdoor gear". I hope to make this site more general interest though and will keep in mind the category list suggestion.

Great feedback. I did just this. The product links on the history page now link to a dedicated product page for that item/merchant. Example:

Yes, that was right. My initial thought was since the concept was a new deal each hour that it only needed the current deal. I went ahead and modified the RSS feed to include all products from the day like the history page has:

http://www.hourdeal.com/rss.xml

Thanks again for the very useful feedback. Does anyone else have any other comments/suggestions?

the site looks good.
maybe you could place somewhere what will be the next item will be.
so visitors won't visit your site then leave if they don't like the product.
and to keep the visitors informed on what will be the next product.
something like that.

Interesting. You're not the first person to suggest that. Does that detract from the anticipation concept though, or perhaps it strengthens it..?

maybe both... but try not too list all upcoming products.
maybe because of the time - 1 hour is too long for any visitor to wait until a certain product. he/she may just look for other sites offering same services.
the anticipation concept is really good but people today to are lazy to wait.

I have seen the site and I noticed that there's no navigational menu.. Better to add that, because it will be useful for your visitors...
