Hey,

Just done a redesign on my website and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on what could be made better or just comments on what you think of the website in general.

The Website is: www.tornadodesigns.co.uk

Regrads,
Martin

Hey Martin,

The layout for the website was pretty good, but something about the colors and the text really were just not appealing to me. I belive another text font perhaps would change my appeal. In total though i give you a 7/10.

Best Regards,

I agree with The GeekyOne. I like the site, but all that blue is just too much, and blue is my favorite color. You should mis it up. Also I agree that t he font is not appealing either. Perhaps it is mostly due to the color layout though. Dark blue on top of light blue can mess with the eyes a bit.

Try messing with some different colors and see what you can come up with.

Since this is your portfolio, I would consider it highly important for it to be some of your best thought out work.

I have issues with other website, like web designers, that have sites that are not all that great, or could be a heck of a lot better. With your apparent knowledge, you should be able to come up with something very intriguing.

I would just suggest not to downplay the importance of your portfolio. First impressions are everything. Show them what you can really do.

If your a web designer, your homepage should be some of the best work you have done. Like IG88 said. First impressions are everything.
GoodLuck.

Best Regards,

Very interesting, but I guess you need to change or add color on more bright one.

It looks quite good but I think you need to work with your color combination.

way too dark and negative

i know you're from Scotland but come on - it can be sunny

your logo is, er, quite crap as well.

and i think the word you're looking for in this sentence
"I am efficient with all of the following web technlogies:"
is 'proficient'

not all your internal anchors work on the about me page (the links at the top)

you have some coding errors that need fixing

you've some tables for layout which is unnecessary

remove arial from your font family or move it to the last but one position

something fresher and cleaner with nice sized headings and some more space around the text would be a good start

Agreed with some of the above said points, like:
1. Should be the best, if you're a designer.
2. Color scheme has to be changed.
3. A good logo should be there.

Here are my 2 cents (and I'm not trying to be mean):

This whole design needs to be remodified. A portfolio (as mentioned) is critical. People will look at your portfolio and think that's the level of work you can do.

The problem is your site looks like it's made in the 90's (again not trying to be mean I'm just telling you).

A killer logo needs to be drawn up and the site just needs to go through an overhauling. The colors aren't working very well and graphically it's not exciting.

So how can you fix it? I would suggest you design various sites, and logos but don't point anyone to this portfolio. As you learn and grow as a programmer (and also importantly as a designer) you will learn new tricks and tips to make your design kick butt.

Visit web galleries (no you don't have to visit mine) or search 'web design portfolio' to see how strong portfolios look like.

I would suggest waiting until you have the skills before reworking the portfolio. . . and when you do it will look like eye candy.

I think the one thing the site need the most is a bit of color,

also make sure you validate your code

the back to top links don't work

really like the hover effect on the menu but i think it could use a little color change on the anchor

Thanks for the comments guys much appreciated.
I don't profess to be good at design much more of a programmer, just trying to move into the design part of web development and your comments help alot.

I think i'll leave as is for the moment and just continue learning before putting more into the website. Any suggestions for member features for the site?

Regards,
Martin
