I've been working on a redesign of an existing web site for a client. The goal was simple but professional. I'm still obviously awaiting content, but the design is there.

Now:

The image of the skyscrapers will be a Flash element when all is said and done.

First off let me just say that the re-design is 1000 times better.
Also i think you achieved your goal of keeping it simple.

Really the only thing i'm not sure about on this site would be the background gradient.
I might try have a different gradient for inside the white border and outside.
Also maybe add a little fancier logo, but if you are trying to save bandwidth both of these are fine.

Brilliant job.

I tend to agree with Dan Knight. That's like comparing ice cream to chicken turds (and the former is chicken turds).

I do have a few minor issues with it, though:

1) Your use of the Avant Garde font. The problem is that, for those browsers that have anti-aliasing disabled, it looks pretty...but when it's not anti-aliased, it looks jagged and hard to read. I tend to disable it because I find that most web-based fonts (Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, etc.) are easier to read with it turned off, but to each his/her own.

2) The brown. I'd agree that if you're going to keep it, keep it to the outside. But do they have a logo or something? Maybe with a blue or a green or some other color?

That's about it, though. Everything else is hunky and dory.

They have no logo and aren't paying to have one done. I do agree that it would be nice to have a well designed logo on it.

Avant Garde? Peculiar that you're seeing it, because it's certainly not in my CSS. The font families used in my CSS are Century Gothic, Arial & Verdana?
