phase32.co.uk
I have spent quite alot of time on my site now (about 1 month on and off) and would love feedback, be it good or bad.
I have to work on a few elements still.

Thank you in advance.

It looks good. I find the body text a bit small and hard to read but it might be just me.

Small text, tab order on your form needs a lot of work, I was considering asking for the free estimate on a logo for a forum of mine, but the form was too confusing, it should either contain less fields or have a separate form for graphic design.
Would you let me know when this has been updated so that I can figure out how to use it to ask for the estimate?

Thank you for your replies so far
a very astute review Arenlor...

Tab order was known about but forgotten, thx for reminding me.
I think I will create a 'choice' page within the free quote page. LOGO, WEBSITE, and BANNER quotes.

I am pleased I joined the webmaster-talk forum.

Hi qwerty.

Your website appears clean and usable. However, there are some clear issues to look at. As said already the text size is too small.

The menu is confusing with far too many links being shown. You should only include the necessary main links in this main menu and have the rest in a bottom or side 'submenu'. For the main menu I would go with: home, services, portfolio, about us, request a quote. Nobody includes a sitemap link in the their main menu. Think what you want your visitors to do, and what they will want to do. It will probably be: see your work, learn more about you, or order a design, so anything that doesn't cater for these needs should not be given equal important in your navigation. Try reducing menu links also through the use of subpages or merging content to a single page (services/about us could probably be combined).

The swoosh shape in your header is very 90s, I would go for something more modern to show off your talents as a designer.

The search form at the top of the site is in an awful positiion, nobody generally is used to seeing a search form there, and more importantly it pushes down your whole layout, including important content. Less scrolling is better remember. So I would scrap the search altogether, after all you are a small website. Then move the layout up so the header touches the top of the browser.

Get rid of the paypal donation button, it looks unprofessional and desperate.

Give the side column content boxes headings ('featured design') etc as you can't easily work out what they are.

Oh and your logo is confusing, it could be 'phase design 32' 'phase 32 design' who knows... so I would scrap the word design as its quite obvious what you do, and your logo would look a lot nicer being simpler.

Hope this helps

Move your search box from the top on the same line with welcome
Leave your top menu links intact but shrink Home icon
Fonts size is fine but make them #000000
Bottom menu; make it stronger
You can shrink PayPal at least twice in size

Noticeably you like pastel colors but your site has too soft shade
and a little bit stronger shade will bring life to your site whole image

Anyone else see the ironic situation in criticizing a web designer's design? Qwerty (surprised that name wasn't taken by now) you should always have notes written down detailing what you want to do and what things pop up, I run both Lynx and Firefox, so very well your page could look horrid in text only, but I didn't check that.

Well if you clean up the quote form some so that I can use it easier and I can see what ideas you can come up with, I may end up using your site for a logo.

I have taken on board the comments made about my site and change various stuff.
FONT for main text went up 1 size, forms were tab indexed again, nav links were reduced, search was removed completly.
I know it still needs alot more work but I updated now with the most important changes needed.

Thx for the help here, if you would take one more look?

No, I'm running Ubuntu and they haven't updated it yet, it's 2.0.0.10 and it's 1280x1024. My version of FF is only like 8 days old though.
