Greetings to all you wonderful WebMasters!

You are geniuses! (I thought I was pretty smart, but all this stuff is just going over my head.)--trying to butter ya'll up.

I went to school for E-Commerce, so you'd think I'd have some understanding...but, No! I'm a Graphic Designer, sorry I converted to 'Print'.

Currently, I'm also responsible for updating our website, but the gentleman before me made things quite easy. I just change things in our database (customized, but kinda like Access) & press the "Update to Web" button, then add images on, via FTP.

I'm trying to get my feet wet in the 'Web' field, but no one wants to share their wealth of information.

I'm trying to update a site for a friend. She wants me to add a link from her home page that opens into a PDF. She gave me the username & password info, but I don't know where to start. Do I download the site somewhere? How do I upload the corrected info? So many questions...not enough finger muscles to continue typing.

FYI--the gentleman I replaced was more of a Programmer, so I think I have the capabilities on my computer, I just don't know where to go.

YOU ARE THE BEST!

Umm... roses.. Godiva chocolates might work....

You would need to log into her control panel and download the page(s) to your machine in order to edit them. Then upload them again when you're finished.

You might have software on the machine for building web pages, but you can really do all that is needed with a simple text editor.

Since you don't know any HTML, I would suggest you take a crack at some lessons - www.w3schools.com

You'll likely need an FTP program as well. Here's a free one (legit free too...none of that adware crap.)

Thank you LadynRed & ADAM!
You pointed me in the right direction (I was going in circles, in a dead-end)

I'll be back soon, I'm certain of it.
Have a wonderful day!
