Hi

In a previous thread I got convinced that redesigning in CSS will not make me loose visitors that it could in fact improve my ranking.

My main objective is not to improve my ranking (4,000 unique visitors per day). My main objective is to increase sales (1 or 2 per day).

Can the wrong design be bad for sales (choice of colors, logo, ease of navigation, sales pitch). I am sure the answer is yes but how do I find the right person to not only do the CSS thing but come up with a concept that will increase sales.

I get tons of compliments for the website contents and great reviews from the people who buy my workbooks.

How can I get more visitors to buy my product.

How do I find a designer that knows about CSS technology but also about marketing things.

I would be happy to offer our services to you. I am a CSS/HTML designer and my fellow designer is experienced in SEO. PM me if you're interested.

If not, then I will tell you one thing: in general, CSS will not affect your visitors/ranking in a negative way if done properly

If you would post your URL, we'd be able to possibly give you some pointers -- beyond that, Angelosanto is correct about CSS having no bearing on visitors; ranking; nor sales.

vbaexcel: that's a lot easier said than done.

CSS-types aren't often marketing-savvy, and marketing-savvy types often couldn't code a website in anything other than Word or Dr*amw*av*r.

The only advice I could give you would be general advice: look at as many designers/developers as possible, see how they code sites, talk to their customers to see how successful they are at it, and do your homework at least 6 times. (Trust me, it'll pay off in the long run.)

Anybody

What would you rather have:

A popular website with 4,000 visitors per day and one sale

A less popular website (5 visitors a day) who all purchase you product

I took a look at your site to see what it was all about. You have some very useful Excel tips in there and it's no wonder people compliment you. However it not obvious that you are selling anything, I did find your product page eventually but when I looked again I couldn't find it - that is possibly your number one problem.

If a client came to me to build a similar site this is how I would approach it:

1. Home page

Pitching your workbook should be the first thing people see. Tell visitors why they need it (the sell) and offer some "free" tips as samples from the book.

2. Free tips pages

Give people your sample tips but on every sample page "sell the book"

3. Other pages

You consultancy page, contact page etc should be linked to from every page. make it as easy as possible for visitors to contact you.

That is SO true. I think you need to help yourself out by advertising your own product on your site.

I think that your site could REALLY improve if you re-design it with CSS. You have a fair amount of traffic but the visitors could be seeing a much better website. Like I said before I would be happy to help you with it if you would like.

If I could say one thing that you should do immediately, it would be to change the background color. I got onto your site and it was just like WOW. My suggestion is, don't use any of the colors in their strongest form. If you want to use blue, then tone it way down and use a nice light color like #F0F8FF (aliceblue).
