Hey everyone!

I do some of my hosting through webslime, they are reliable and good but one problem...for some very odd reason I can not set up a 3rd party ftp program so I've been stuck using the cpanel one. It's wird I use all correct username/pass/ftp etc never works. So my question is, since I can not set file permissions using cpanel ftp client HOW can I set permissions on file if it's on desktop then upload it? I have a file called repair_settings.php which is a repair file for SMF forums and I need to upload it and fill out some boxes and repairs my forums, well I can not save info because it says i need to edit/change the permissions.

Thanks

Use file manager after you upload the file. Just click on the nama of the file and there will be a small section upper right corner when you can then click on permissions.

Have you tried a free ftp program to connect to your site via ftp. I did not even know there was one in cPanel

I prefer a standalone FTP program myself and Filezilla has become my FTP program of choice.

Usually connecting is with the same user/pass info, but it's possible your host set things up so it needs something different. You should be able to call them and ask.
