Redirects not working

I'm trying to redirect my old site to the new one, I'm using the "redirects" area in Cpanel for this. I enter everything fine and it goes through good, but once I check the old page it doesn't redirect. In fact it seems to be adding extra characters to the new urls which makes them not work.

Here's an example. I'm redirecting this url, http://www.centralpetz.com/content/blogsection/4/26/
to this one, http://www.centralpetz.com/cms/index...ining-articles

Only when I'm finished the final outcome is this, you can see it's adding an extra %3 to it:http://www.centralpetz.com/cms/index...ining-articles

Redirects are bad..... Don't use them, instead make a good SEO'd page and just link to the new one with some keyword text. Don't just forward them though.

I have to use redirects. I've redesigned my entire site and I don't want to loose my google ranking. As far as I know, the best way to do that is to redirect each page to the new one and then slowly the links will point to the new site.

The old pages are using Joomla if that makes any difference. I'm not sure why it won't work, I've used redirects in cpanel before without a problem.

I'm not. It's the same domain, but the new CMS is in a different folder.

On an Apache server, create and upload an .htaccess file to the root public folder containing the following line:

Quote:
redirect permanent /content/ http://www.centralpetz.com/cms/
This will redirect all users trying to access the folder "content" and all subfolders and files to the folder "cms", and tell robots that the page(s) has permanently moved.

If you want to redirect a specific file, include the filename after "/content/"

Normal page redirects are bad, but permanent redirects are acceptable. Read the Google Guide

seomaster java redirects are perfectly fine, if you keep all you content on page, why u ask? because SE dont read java, therfor will think ur site is still there - while ur visitor is going to play somewhere else... peace.
